My kids are 6, 4, 2...should we eat at HDDR or Mickey's Backyard BBQ? Have never been to either...

We haven't tried the BBQ, but we went to HDD when my DS was 4 and he laughed the whole time! We are going back soon and it is one of his most requested things to do!

My DS laughed non-stop too just after he turned age 4. I didn't think he was going to enjoy it but he laughed hysterically. Our waitress was very funny too. It's a stage show and the performers come into the audience sometimes too.

Backyard BBQ was fun too but completely different experience. Outside pavillion with long tables, sit anywhere you want. Country band, rope tricks, characters dancing with the kids. Some outside stuff to do. More laid back, not sitting at a table for a long time like hoop dee doo.

I'd pick both if you are staying at Wilderness Lodge/Ft. Wilderness.... or do Backyard BBQ now and Hoop Dee Doo on a future trip when your youngest is 4 or older. HDD is enjoyable at any age if you like that Hee Haw slapstick kind of comedy.

The food at both is about same quality but HDD has a fixed menu... Backyard BBQ is a buffet with many more choices for picky eaters. Both have unlimited beer, wine, soda, ice tea, etc. A bonus to Backyard BBQ is they have a whole freezer of help your self Mickey ice cream bars!!!

Our family is very partial to HDDR. We first went when the kids were 5 and 6 and they insist on going every visit to Disney. Depending on when you are going, you may not like BBQ because it is dependent upon the weather. If it is really hot or cold, it might not be too much fun. If you are willing to take the weather risk, I am sure your kids would really like BBQ, especially while they are really young. There is more interaction and it is really laid back.

HDDR is really fun and there are things for the kids to participate in, but it is a seated dinner show. Choose what you think your would be more appealing to your kids personalities. Either one is great fun!
