Hoop De Doo Review

Any updates? Our trip is in August and this is literally a MUST DO!

Nothing official or verified yet. I did however, see a woman claiming to be a HDDR cast members wife in another group I am in, say that her husband was recalled, however he was being reassigned for the time being to another restaurant.

If the chef knows ahead of time about the dietary restrictions/food allergies, they will make an alternate meal for that person.

I'm not so sure about the one who doesn't like that kind of food but maybe they would do something in that case as well, I'm not sure.

And don't forget, all you can drink beer, sangria and soft drinks is included in the price too.
Thank you! I didn’t realize that was an option for the person with dietary restrictions.
My need for gluten free was accommodated easily. Have your friend with dietary restrictions contact WDW's dietary team.

As far as the one who just doesn't like 'that kind' of food, not much can be done about that.

The decision as to whether or not it's 'worth it' to pay just to see the show is really individual. Would I have paid $66 +tax/tip (cheapest seats) just for the show? Probably not, but there are plenty of people who would.
That’s great to hear they were easily able to accommodate your need. Thank you for sharing the link!

Not the biggest BBQ fan here (but my DH and kids are) I usually graze and leave hungry, but would NEVER miss it. Must do for us - regardless of food. (Doesn't hurt that my DH and 3 boys eat more than enough to make up for my minimal eating, LOL) But I'd go for show no matter what. FWIW, it's not bad food. Typical and easy to eat - corn, meats, etc. Just not my thing typically.
Thanks for sharing your experience! I think the one who doesn’t like that type of food would actually be more like you as far as he would probably do a little grazing of some of the things but leave still hungry.

Just drink more lol, it will pay for itself! :teeth: and you'll get a show for free.
Or a better idea, just ask them if they want to go. Maybe you can go with who wants to and they can do something else. Meet them at the pool afterwards. Or the campfire.
Lol!

Wait a minute... you mean to say we don’t all have to do the same thing all the time!? 😱 Lol, I’m so used to planning things for the entire group to do I sometimes forget the obvious option 🤣 Thanks for the reminder!

My BFF and I have an agreement that we will NOT be joined at the hip. If someone wants to do XX, they do it. If the other doesn't want to or can't they either wait or find something else to do for awhile. If one of us needs a break and the other wants to rock on, we part ways for the time being and catch up with each other later. We've even been known to get our meals at different places and then meet up to eat. We do spend probably 99% of our time together but it's nice to know we have the option to do our own thing without the other getting 'pouty'.

nDH (non-Disney Husband) can't handle full days at the parks. We concentrate on rides then he usually heads back to Ft W after lunch and I carry on. Sometimes he'll come back, sometimes he won't. The good thing about him cutting out is that I do my shopping when he's gone. No eye-rolling, no "It costs WHAT!!!???", no "You've seen everything already at that other store".

That’s great you guys are all on the same page. Sounds like a really good system 😊

Hoping this is ok to ask this here versus making a new thread....

Wondering everyone’s thoughts on whether you feel it’s worthwhile to attend (for the show) even if you know you won’t enjoy/eat the food?? Thought it could be a fun addition to our first fort trip this fall (if it’s reopened), but know that at least a couple people in the group will not eat the food (one because they don’t like that kind of food and the other due to dietary restrictions). Is the show entertaining enough that it would feel worth the cost for the show knowing they’ll do their own dinner before / after?
They have an extensive menu for various dietary restrictions at HDDR, here's what they had pre-covid, this is in addition to the modifications they can make to the regular menu for top 8 allergies: 580776

Thank you!! If it’s the same post covid one of these should work! Would I still contact them ahead of time regarding the dietary restrictions or are these requested when checking in that night?

Some of the allergy offerings have changed throughout Disney, just like the regular menu offerings have slimmed down post-covid, so I would still contact special diets ahead of time when reservations open back up.

Absolutely contact Special Diets ahead of time if your friend has multiple or uncommon allergies/intolerances. It's best to speak to dietary directly beforehand in those cases. TBH, it would be best for your friend to speak to Special Diets him/herself. I'm sure they'd prefer it and I know I'd rather not have a 'middle man' when dealing with something so important.

If your friend's restrictions are of the more common ones, it can be annotated on the online reservation, it asks for dietary restrictions. That's usually all I do as gluten is one of the ones they list and I've never had a problem with accommodation (and I am a picky eater to boot). And I've never been 'glutened' at Disney.

To the best of my recollection the reservation lists wheat, gluten, fish, shellfish, milk, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, and soy. If your friend has one of these, you can safely 'check it and forget it' as they'll easily be accommodated.

Thank you for such a detailed reply!! Knowing all of this can be done is going to be a real game changer and increase the overall enjoyment of the trip for her!!

Oh that is sad. I hope he is entertaining at the other restaurant.

Could it be!?!

Saw this on a Fb group. It was on Yelp, so don't get your hopes up. Here is the Yelp link. And it only has 4 1/2 stars? What's the matter with those people? :rolleyes2

Yelp seems pretty confident.

i feel like an announcement would have already been made if it’s opening in 11 days. They’ve been announcing about 3-4 weeks out when something is coming back and opening reservations up about a week after the announcement. Flying fish i think is the only one that had a shorter turn around from announcement to open and that was still i think 2+ weeks.

@Philsfan77,

I think you're right. CMs have said it wouldn't return until mask mandates were lifted. That happened today, so it is possible, but not likely.
