Trying to decide where to eat our last dinner at DL. I've checked the menus for both places but they are both several months old.

Has anyone been to either place recently and can tell me about the menus?

Would you go again? Recommend the food? Have any pictures to post?

Thanks in advance! :thumbsup2

We went to 55 about 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately I don't remember the menu to well, but it was wonderful.. I had onion soup that was wonderful and my steak was so tender and tasted very good. The sides were served family style.

I know one of the special sides of the evening was a 4 cheese Mac and Cheese, that sounded wonderful, but since we didn't want pasta we didn't try it.

I would recommend it.

We ate at Steakhouse 55 last summer for our 20th anniversary. We loved it! The raspberry dressing was fresh and had real raspberries in it. I'm a Ranch girl so it is unusal for me to like raspberry dressing. The french bread before the meal tasted fresh baked and the crust was just the right amount of crunchy, not chewy like some. We each got a side and had plenty to share with each other and our steaks were very good. At the end they brought us a free dessert for our anniversary. We would go there again.

All this looking at menus and pictures is making me hungry! :surfweb:popcorn::

We ate at Steakhouse 55 a couple weeks ago. Went to Hook's point many years ago so don't know if it is still as good.
Here is my review.
We celebrated my BF's birthday a week and a half ago by trying out the Steakhouse at the Disneyland hotel. Did not know much about it but had read the menu online. Both of us were impressed by the decor. It is subdued, classy but not pretentious. The atmosphere was quiet with some soft big band music playing. We were there at 5:30 so there were hardly any people inside. We ordered the wedge salad which was similar to every other wedge salad with better dressing and a higher price. I ordered a filet mignon done perfectly and as good as you can get. He ordered Porter House and said it was excellent. We had many sides to choose from and the waiter said each side was good for two or more people. They had a special of macaroni and 3 cheeses and bacon that we chose and it was excellent. Flavorful but not rich. I had told them Nick was celebrating his birthday but did not expect them to do anything. Nick was so terrified that they would come sing to him but we were both reasonably sure that this would not occur in a restaurant of this caliper. It did not but they did bring over a free chocolate mousse with a candle. It was excellent as well. Service was great and we were well taken care of. I was greatly pleased with the final bill. As the evening progressed more and more people arrived and it became a bit less calm. There were not a lot of kids and the ones that did arrive were well behaved.
It was not nearly as expensive as I was expecting. We will definitely go back.

The menu was as stated here. There may have been a couple changes.

We recently ate at Hooke's Point for my birthday in February. While I thought it was good, it wasn't outstanding and definitely overpriced.

The service was also lacking. Our server was never around, but the "busboys" were took pity on us and kept refilling our water and giving us more bread.

I had the special of the day. I cannot remember what type of fish it was, but it was expensive and overcooked. Everyone else's meals (which were off the menu so the cooks obviously cook them more often) were good.

So, if you said you were going, I'd say, "Oh, that will be ok." But, since you have the option, it sounds like Steakhouse 55 is a better bet.

I love the atmosphere at Hooks Pointe. However, if I were to choose between Hooks Pointe & Steakhouse 55, I would definitely choose Steakhouse 55. I had the rubbed ribeye, and it was delicious. Our sides included the macaroni & cheese, and asparagus. yum

I'm definately leaning towards Steakhouse 55 now.

Daannzzz - Your review had me drooling.

Thank you all for your help. I can't even begin to tell you how excited we are about this trip!:yay:

Thanks for all your reviews. We are spending several weekends at the GCH and I knew I wanted to eat at Steakhouse 55 because we have been doing the Winemaker Dinners there for several years, but never actually ordered off the menu. I loooooove a good Rib Eye. So we have that planned for the night that the F&W Festival starts.

I had been debating what to do for the night of my birthday, because we are also staying out there for two nights. I've been to Napa Rose many times and it's always special, but I had wondered about Hook's Pointe, and I'm glad to hear after reading these reviews that I made the right decision to go with Napa Rose for that night.

Only 1 month until the Food & Wine Festival starts!

We enjoyed both -- food and service great at both -- but the price point was really high. This time around we will do neither but I don't regret going for the experience at least once!

Daannzzz- I glanced at your reply and I assumed the photo in your signature was of your meal at Steakhouse55 since it looked like a plate...I started laughing when I realized it was a dog with a cone of shame...definitely not a plate of food unless they serve crazy dog's head! Haha- love that photo!

:rotfl2: That's hillarious!!

Hooke's Pointe we have been to once, was good, nice atmosphere but overpriced and nothing outstanding.

Steakhouse 55 has to be my favorite restaurant in the Disneyland Resort. Last time we went was October and we have the Pork Ribeye, Potato Stack au Gratin and Asparagus...all really good, my mouth is watering just thinking about it! Here's some photos of the restaurant:

I can also confirm along with everyone else that Steakhouse 55 is a great meal (never been to Hooks Pointe though). We've had two excellent meals there & thouroughly enjoyed the steaks/salads/sides/desserts. It's also not usually that crowded so it's a quiet break from all the park excitement.

Perhaps DD & I will dine @ Steakhouse 55 during her B~day trip, I'm sure we could split a meal. Maybe we'll skip BB this trip *I do want to try Cafe Orleans.
