:wave2: Hi everyone, this is my first post! My Fiance and I are planning our DisneyMoon but I can't seem to make a decision as to where to stay. We will be there 10/30-11/04. I've read great things about POR and POFQ but last night we were browsing BCR and thats the one that my fiance fell in love with. Is it worth the price difference? If I can't afford the garden views and just get the standard, should I even bother? Do you have any other suggestions as to where to stay? I've been there a few times and was actually a CM in 02 but haven't been back in a while and my memory is foggy. Plus this will be his First time and I want to make it as memorable as possible. Thanks in advance!!

Hi there fellow disneymooner! We are going Oct 4-11 for our disneymoon and staying at Caribbean Beach. I'd say stay where ever your money will allow or the place you truly are desiring to stay at. I have stayed at almost all the Deluxe resorts and wanted to stay some place I never have before which is why I picked the CB. Remember that most of your time will be out of your room, so really any place you stay at disney will be nice. Each resort has it's own romantic spots. So whether you stay at the PO or the BC will be extremely romantic. It all boils down to what you really want. You cannot go wrong with disney! Congratulations :bride: :groom:

Thanks for the welcome! I have other motives too... hopefully the fiance will fall madly in love with Orlando (like I did) and will be willing to move there, so I'm trying to really pick the resort that will most help my endevour! I'm evil, I know, but who wouldn't want to live that close to WDW??? :rotfl:

Hello DisneyDoll! :wave2:

Have you looked into renting points from a DVC member off of the forums here? DVC resorts are deluxe accommodations and it's possible to see significant savings for rooms renting off of a member here. BCV is one of the resorts for which points can be rented.

There's a little bit of work involved, but I think the savings are well worth it!

If you're interested, check out the DVC forums here:

We have rented points off of a member for our DFTW & Dismoon this upcoming January. And I am arranging to do the same for some of our guests as well!

Good luck!

StarSeed,
Could you explain this a little more to me? I'm confused on "renting points"? How many points do you need for a nite? Thanks! :thumbsup2

I second the points rental suggestion. We've done it both for our first trip last year and are doing it for our honeymoon this year. We're staying at the Boardwalk again :-) because we fell in love with it last time. We love the proximity to Epcot and MGM - which are our 2 favorite parks. We got a standard view 1bd last time - which has a small kitchen and laundry (which is a PLUS for someone like me who always manages to get something on her shirt in the lovely shelf area - ladies, I know you know what area I'm talking about it) We are staying during a different "season" this year which requires a few more points than last year. Feel free to PM me with more details - I had some one "guide" me the first time around and it definitely helps! By renting points you get the same accomodations for about 1/2 of the rack rate price in a similar room type.

Hoping to Honeymoon at WDW in January 07. Posting to join this forum.

Congrats fellow buckeye! I had the exact thoughts "how can I make him fall in love w/this place so we can move here??" I agree you should look into renting points and stay at a DVC resort. We didn't and I wish we had. While we were there we did conclude it is too hot to live there, but he did say we'll look into buying into the DVC! :) If he happens to be in the military, you may also want to look into shadesofgreen.org!! That was my first choice but they were booked. Good luck :thumbsup2

Yeah Buckeyes!
Well, we definately are heat babies and not snow bunnies and we've had many discussions about moving to FL. We just moved to Columbus about 8 months ago but the orignal plans were to move to FL. When the hurricanes hit, I freaked and played the safe route. One that I regret. My heart belongs in Orlando, I know it!
Thanks for the advise for the DVC! It's starting to pan out that this might be the way we go (have to have a discussion with him after work tonight). One thing thats kinda holding me back though is that POR has the ferry to DTD which is where we'll spend a lot of time at night but I guess there's always the busses, right? :p

I would think so... that is one area I have no idea about :) I've never once taken the busses. I have always either drove down or had a rental car! Good luck w/the discussion tonight! Columbus isn't bad, I work in Reynoldsburg over by JC Penney outlet but live in Mansfield... an hour and 20 minute drive!! UHHH so I am ready to move for sure... I realize FL is hot and you have those darn hurricanes but you have some sort of disaster possibilities where ever you go. Here we have the tornadoes and snow and ice storms. I'd rather deal w/heat than cold...but we'll see. He retires from the military next month so we'll see! I know, I know... he's 44 :)

Wow how cool that we are close. I know the Penny Outlet very well. It was one of the first things I found when I was randomly driving. I think I have an inner outlet radar!

Well I think its definately worth moving for, IMHO and hopefully my soon to be DH will think so too. I've a feeling he will. If you two move down there too, that'd be funny. We could meet infront of the castle one day!

I have stayed at POFQ and liked it, but after staying at the Beach Club- that is my place. I love the decor (I am having my reception at Ariels) but it is th el ocation that can not be beaten! Walking distance to Epcot and MGM, all the restaurants so close- that is my favorite place! Beaches and Cream, the pirate slide

Definitely planning a disneyMoon in January! She accepted last night!!!!!

Congratulations GorshGoofy!!!! Good luck with all the planning and know whatever questions you have, you can feel safe asking them here. :sunny: :thumbsup2

Yes, if you can afford it, it is completely worth staying at Beach Club over a moderate. I'm not bashing the moderates - they are very nice. But, this is your honeymoon. On my first honeymoon, I stayed at an unmemorable resort, and it didn't make for a memorable honeymoon.

You can rent points. Just go to the DVC forum, on the main discussions forum, and go to the DVC rent/trade board. You should look at paying $10 per point.

Congrats GorshGoofy!!! How exciting!! Post how you did it, I LOVE reading proposal stories!!!! :thumbsup2

We stayed at the French Quarter for our honeymoon. I really liked it because it was considerably less crowded than the Riverside.

Do remember to get your "Magical Wishes" buttons because all the cast members will wish you congrats:)
