Hello, Disneyland Dis-ers!

My fiance and I will be travelling to Aulani for our honeymoon in May with a 5 day detour at the Disneyland Resort before we head home! We are so excited, its coming up so quickly!

We are both WDW CMs and go the parks very often, as you can imagine with free admission ;) We love the parks and decided on 5 days at DLR because we really wanted to soak it all in and enjoy our time there without rushing around trying to get everything in. I know its a smaller property, especially for us WDW babies. My question is what would be the must do activities for us to do to celebrate this very special trip for us? What restaurants would cater to us? As avid WDW park goers, we aren't so much concerned with adult related activities as we are big kids at heart but some romantic activities would be fun too.

Please let me know what you would plan to do if you were honeymoooning at DLR :hippie:

Ask at the Main Street Station, preferably the earlier the better, to ride in the Lilly Belle, also since there is two of you on a tender.

This could be epic, you can ride in the tail and nose of the DLR monorails.

If you are lucky you could hit a CM preview of Cars Land attractions.

Napa Rose is the finest dining, and it also has a chef's table section.

Grab drink at the Alfresco Lounge in DCA and Trader Sam's at the DLH.

Steak House 55 in the DLH is very nice.

You may also want to eat at Blue Bayou.

See all three night shows.

Consider taking a Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour.

wow, first of all congrats!

Are you staying at the Disneyland Hotel or a Disney hotel?
(as a CM you probably already know this enxt part but...)

When my hubby and I went to DLR for our honeymoon we stayed at DH and when they found out we were on our honeymoon they upgraded us for free to the honeymoon suite. I didn't even know it (all she had said was that we were upgraded)
When we got in front of the double door my husband said "honey...what did you do?"
We went to the parks and when we got back there was a bucket with apple cider on ice and strawberries with a bunch of choice for dipping (sugar, brown sugar, chocolate, whipcream)
So I would mentioned that you are on your honeymoon and are WDW CM's they might do something nice for you.

I would check out at DLR anything that isn't at WDW which is probably somethings at DCA. I'm not very familiar with WDW so you would know better.
DO you have Electronica there? Do you have the Alladin show?
Those two are must do's for me!

Good luck and congrats again!!!

Please report back on your trip when you're done!! My main squeeze and I are thinking about doing a similar trip!

I did an in-room celebration (we stayed at the PPH) for our recent anniversary trip in October (pics in my signature). There were rose petals on the bed, and a trail from the door.

We had a wonderful lunch at Cafe Orleans and people watched (sat outside next to the railing). (Blue Bayou was closed.)

I would definitely do a dinner at Napa Rose (Grand Californian) and a lunch at Blue Bayou (in Pirates). You could also have a nice dinner for World of Color at either of the choices at CA Adventure--although I prefer the one at Ariel's Grotto.

Don't skip stuff that you have at WDW. Much of it is different at DL and a lot of it is actually better--the exception being Tower of Terror, which is shorter and not quite as good here.

Make sure you see Aladdin at CA and spend some time in the Animation Building. There's fun stuff to do in there--my favorite is putting your voice in a Disney cartoon in the Sorceror's Workshop. :)

As the previous poster mentioned, you'd enjoy a drink at Trader Sam's at the Disneyland Hotel, and there are a couple of nice restaurants in Downtown Disney that you could go to for romantic dinners, too. (Catal and Jazz Kitchen in particular)

Take some time to read about some of the special little spots and fun "unknown" things at the parks here (there's a thread here somewhere) and remember that this is Walt's ORIGINAL. It does have charm that is indescribable. The Walk in Walt's Footsteps Tour would be a nice thing to do to soak up that history.

As WDW veterans, you'll see a HUGE difference in the feel of the place. This is a park in the middle of a city. It's smaller and has less of a resort feel. But the magic is VERY present and if you see it as the oasis in the middle of the city that it is, you'll appreciate it.

Have a wonderful honeymoon!!!!

All of this information has been super helpful! Since so many bad reviews are coming out of Aulani's restaurants, I've resolved to save our "fancy dinner" budget for DLR restaurants!

I forgot about the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour so I'm really excited to reserve that as a random surprise for the hubby to be :)

I don't have any suggestions, but I will also be in DL in May for my honeymoon. We're going to Maui and then stopping in DL on the way home. I'm so excited! Congrats to you!

When my husband and I were there a few years ago for our honeymoon, we went to Taste Pilots Grill in DCA by Soarin for lunch and they seated us at a reserved table and served us our food on real plates and gave us free water bottles. It may not sound like much, but it was one of the highlights of our trip! So just make sure your Just Married buttons are clearly visible and you never know what can happen. :)

Congratulations!! My fiance and I are honeymooning there also this September. I'm so excited and I'm sure you are too! I've decided to make this trip extra "special" is to stay onsite since we never have before and eat at the fancier restaurants. I'm also thinking I'll probably get some type of more expensive souvie to remember it by. I just know it will be special no matter what. :)

Blue Bayou is a MUST do, especially since you don't have the option to do it in WDW. You pay for the atmosphere, but honestly the food is really good, and it's just a great experience.

You must ride Pirates, because it is one of the few rides that is better in DL than WDW. Haunted Mansion's exterior is different, but the inside is similar/not as good as WDW's. The treehouse in Adventureland is Tarzan's instead of SFR. Indiana Jones is a must. It is similar to Dinosaur, but better, I think. Nemo subs is cute. Matterhorn is a must. Roger Rabbit Cartoon Spin is alright, but not worth more than 25 minute wait.

Also you absolutely must, no excuses get a bread bowl. The bread bowls are made fresh in California Adventure (so the Boudin Bakery in Cali Adv is the best place to get them, but they are same throughout the parks, just fresher here), and they are just absolutely to die for. It's a good filling lunch. It's about $9, but you get the soup plus the super filling bread to eat after, ask for butter to go with it! Heaven!

I second the PP who said to wear your buttons. My DH and I had our Happy Anniversary buttons, and we were congratulated by many guests and CMs, also when we were having our picture taken with Captain Hook, he asked in his way how many years (our first) and if we were expecting a baby. (Making the motion of a pregnant belly) It was so cute! We were also treated to Mickey Beignets (sp?) at Cafe Orleans, and special cupcakes at our dinner at Goofy's Kitchen. The Fairy Godmother even wrote "Happy 1st Anniversary" in my autograph book! (And my DH laughed when I bought it, but thought it was really cute!)
