Normal?
What is normal? All subjective, wouldn't you agree?
Before we get started here, I have a question for you. Finding Nemo at the AK is now one of our favorite shows. The more we see it, the more we like it. Does anyone know if a cd soundtrack is available? So far I haven't found anything, and I just love the "Crush" song.
Meanwhile, back at the Music resort,,,,
Having survived the bus ride from heck, Diane and I made a drink in the room, then went over to the piano pool to enjoy it with a smoke. It was empty except for a young couple sitting at a fringe table, also smoking, so we took the table next to them.
They were all excited, having just checked in, and we talked with them for a bit. After a while, they started exhibitting more and more PDA's.
No, not with us, with each other.
Geesh!
For the uninformed, PDA's are "Public Displays of Affection".
Which if fine, as long as it doesn't become TOO public!
What is it about this POOL?
You couldn't help overhearing what they are saying, hey, they knew that we could overhear what they are saying, they just didn't seem to care.
Soon, their talk turned to whether or not to leave the lights on when they get back and get down to serious "frisky".
Smidgy and I were just wondering about the Jill clan, and if they got caught in the bus mess, when we overheard the "lights" issue come up. Believe me, not easy to keep from bursting out laughing!
Heck, I wanted to give my two cents worth!
But I didn't.
At least not yet.
Lines were popping into my head left and right, and Diane knew it too, but she gave me that stern, "leave it alone" look so I just sat there.
I was scared to death that the girl was going to say "Ok, we leave the lights on, and we have Stacy in the background on the tv doing the 7 things you don't want to miss."
But they just checked in, probably don't even know Stacy yet.
So I'm good.
We had another smoke and finished up our drinks. We were both shot, the only thing I wanted to get frisky with back in the room is my pillow.
But for all their talk, the couple was still sitting there when we got up to leave. We got up, said goodnight to them, they said goodnight to us, Diane started walking to the room, I picked up the butts and threw them in the garbage, and I paused at their table before I left.
You knew I had to, right?
"I don't mind it either with the lights on, I just hate it when she leaves the wipers going."
She turned beet red, he busted out laughing and said "Yeah, screws up the rhythim doesn't it?"
Diane had stopped when she heard the laughing, "You cracked, didn't you?"
All I could do was look at the ground and give my best shovel lip and nod.
The next day, our last full day at Music, is a split stay at Magic Kingdom.
It's EMH time again, like I said, the whole ee and emh schedule was different for December. Normally it's on a Sunday, but this is Monday, with StressfullMagic at 8 and Wishes at nine. We might meet the Ohioans,,,, Ohioneese,,,the Ohineys, yeah, that'll work, we might meet them by the pool for a bit in the afternoon, but we'll meet for sure by the noodle station for Wishes.
That morning, Magic Kingdom was routine. After a couple of rides on BTMR, then Splash Mountain, which, I'll have you know, I didn't get more than 5 drops on me, we did Jungle Cruise.
I don't understand how they pick "captains" for this ride. The girl we got,,, and girls are hardly ever as good as guys,,,was just terrible. SHe appeared to be scared to death, missed at least half of her lines, and whispered the ones that came to her.
I came close to commandeering the boat!
From there it was on to Laugh Floor, where for once they didn't pick on me.
Actually, they picked on Diane, asked her where she was from. I was hoping she's say something like Gondor, but no, she said Chicago.
Which, as you all know, is home of the beautiful Eifful Tower!
One last thing to do this morning, Carousel of Progress.
Now I have noticed that the winter months confuse Disney as much as it does us when it comes time to figure out what to wear. Well, Disney has a hard time guessing whether they need the heat on, or the air conditioning.
Yesterday was only around 77 but today is supposed to be up to 84, way above norm for December in Orlando.
It was boiling inside of COP!
You didn't notice it right away, but as the show went on, people were stripping down to their skivvies, whatever skivvies are.
"There's a great big beautiful tomorrow, and tomorrow is just a dream away"
I heard a guy behind me say " I hope they invent airconditioning in the next set."
And of course that just eggs me on, so I said to Diane,
"WHat's the name of this? Casserole of Progress?"
And I get the elbow to the ribs again.
"Hey, you didn't elbow that guy!"
Behind me, I hear a "UNH". And a woman leans forward behind Smidgy and says to her, "Don't worry, I got him."
(poor lexmelinda, this is another ride that the name might now be changed to permanently)
One last stop on the way out is a counter service meal at Casey's Corner. Hot dogs and fries for both of us, sat outside and watched people try to NOT feed the ducks.
Then it was back to the room, we were the only ones on the bus, and down to the pool.
The Ohineys were already there.
They told us about the ride home they had last night, and why they are driving their tonight.
I couldn't blame them.
After agreeing to meet them later, we went back and changed, but stuck to the Disney transportation system.
Magic Kingdom is the one park I usually don't want to drive to. Partly because, you have to use the system anyway.
Dinner tonight is at 7, at a place we never tried before, and one that I hardly ever hear anyone ever eating at. It was also one of the few MK resort restaurants that we could get ressies for at a desent hour.
Go ahead, name it.
,,,,,,,,,,,,
,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Tiimes up.
The Grand Floridian Cafe.
You have no idea how many nights we have poured over the menus at All Ears, and for some reason this one never gets "clicked" on.
From the bus to the Magic Kingdom, then the ferry over to Grand Floridian, we had time to walk around a bit before dinner.
And see the Gingerbread House.
The Cafe is really a very elegant looking eatery. Soft lights, but not dark, very quiet, with a nice view from our window table. It also appeared that you could just walk right in and get a table without a ressie.
Let me recap our table service meals so far on this trip for you:
Coral Reef, good, but the blackened cajun catfish can get a bit strong to the pallette after awhile, I probably won't order it again.
Teppanedo, great, just don't tick off the guy holding the knives.
Whispering Canyon, An excellent buy, tons to eat, but same ribs you and get at Flame Tree.
And now Grand Floridian Cafe.
Have you noticed that the longer you are with someone, the more often you end up ordering pretty much the same thing?
We both started with the French Onion soup. Really, really good, but the only soup you will end up using a knife and fork in.
I considered getting the New York Strip, but I kknew I'd never finish it, so ordered the prime rib instead. I think she did also.
It was good, no too fatty, but not as good as the prime rib I had once at Boatwrights, of all places.
Again, they let me substitute corn for green beans. Only not on the cob, a huge bowl filled with kernals.
Dessert here is another story, not sure how to explain it.
They have what they call "mini-desserts". If you order off the menu, they are about 2.39 a serving. But on the dining plan? Who knows the system they use.
I ended up with a little bit of sorbet, accompanied by a plate of chocolate cake, covered with chocolate syrup, with a chocolate icing, odorned with some chocolate wafers, then they covered the whole thing with something that looked like,,,,,,, chocolate.
I think they called it "chocolate to the fifth power".
Actually, they called it chocolate mousse, but you get the idea.
You know what it tasted like?
Tasted like chicken.
sorry
We got back to the MK and by the Noodle station with about ten minutes to spare before Wishes. Somehow Jill found us in that throng, and led us over tho group.
After much oohing and ahhing, and all of us constantly looking at Kim because she is the only one of us who hadn't seen it before, we took off to see what we could get in for EMH. This was great, because I don't think Jill and John had done an EMH at the MK before, and being the expert on the subject that I am, I got to tell everyone where to go.
So to speak.
We need to get away from Main Street, the front of the castle, and Tomorrowland, as quickly as possible.
First stop was the Haunted Mansion, way in the back.
On the way there, I kept seeing John's head dart back and forth from every vendor we passed. He knew better, but it was possible someone had set up a bootleg beer stand at the last minute. Suddenly, his eyes lit up.
"No John, it's ROOT beer, not the same thing. "
"I knew that!"
On to BTMR, as we passed the drinking fountain again, for some reason a little Japanese girl popped into my mind. There was no wait for Splash Mountain, but I couldn't talk anyone to go on it. They said they did it earlier and got SOAKED on it. I know we did Pirates next, then cut through the castle back to Fantasyland. Man, the castle was so pretty.
I'm pretty sure we ended up the attractions with Philharmagic, then headed out for the exit.
When we got outside, their was still time for one last strange conversation.
I'm not sure where they parked, either at the Contemporary, or the TTC, but they asked us if we wanted to walk over to the Contemporary for a drink with them. I think the Outer Rim? I hemmed and hawwed, (hawwed? I don't think I have ever typed that word in my life!),
Well, while I was H and H ing, Jill said that if we don't feel like walking all the way over to the Contemporary with them, we could take the monorail there and meet them.
This is really hard to describe, you really needed to be there for this.
Then her eyes opened extremely wide, like she had just seen the Red Sea parted, and she said,, "Or, I suppose WE could take the monorail over there ourselves!" Like I said, ya hadda be dere!
Even with this newfound transportation discovery, we still declined, said our goodbyes since we are checking out in the morning to move on to the French Quarter, and hugs were coming fast and furious. I'm not sure if they walked, or took the monorail, but Diane and I were sorry to say goodbye to some great people who were also a lot of fun.
A little later in the trip, we also found out that Goodbye's can sometimes be given a little prematurely.
On to French Quarter!
