is this scary? I saw it when i was in HS and loved it, but cant remember. Our past 2 trips we skipped it bc DS would not sit thru shows. Ds isnt coming in 2wks with us tho. DD LOVES everything 3d, her fav thing in disney world she says is phillarmagic. She isnt easily scared. So is the show scary? If so what makes it scary?

i wouldnt say it was scary, though you do get surprises, like the mice thing and the snake i suppose can be a bit scary, though thats just cuz its 3d and its like its jumping at you, if i remember correctly.. but other than that no its not all that scary.

I'm not crazy about it. Every time I've seen the show kids are screaming & crying. It's very loud and in-your-face. The worst part is when the mice run lose, they feel just like the real thing, it's gross. I'd say skip it, it's not a must see.

My ds is terrified of Honey, I shrunk the Audience.....or really anything 3D that feels like things are touching you. He's okay with Philharmagic...but it took alot of convincing to get him in there once he saw the 3D glasses. I'm not sure if there's a youtube video of this but it's worth looking for so you can see it and judge for yourself.

i personally think it is scary. the last time i saw i was about 8 or 9 (i'm now 16) and i was terrified.! a lot of things jump out at you.

I used to be a HISTA CM and I'd say it's much less scary than It's Tough to Be a Bug ... at HISTA we'd get maybe one child who needed to leave, every second or third show (compared to 3-4 every single show at ITTBAB).

It has a snake and a lion that "jump out" at you, and the mouse effect, which feels like mice running across your legs. If you keep your DD on your lap, or have her lift up her legs/sit cross-legged when the mice are coming (trust me, you'll know when they're coming long before you actually feel it), then she'll miss that.

In fact, I think all the effects are fairly predictable--like "There's a normal sized snake. Now there's a big snake slithering across the creen. Now there's a big snake centered on the screen. Oh, now it's hissing and snapping at me."

It's certainly less scary than ITTBAB, or Dinosaur, or Star Tours, or the ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter. (Not sure how it compares to Stitch--I'd bet a lot of kids aren't scared of Stitch like they would be if they didn't know the character.) I would probably say it's on par with the Great Movie Ride for scariness? Or maybe Maelstrom or Test Track (minus the thrills).

Lol. My Daughter was one of those that had to leave ITTBAB. She had no problem with HISTA. She was 6 at the time.

The snake that comes out at you is scary. He is not a cute Disney snake...he is a big snake who has an attitude and likes to hiss...;)
The lion is sort of scary. Again, not Simba.
The feeling of mice running around your feet is creepy.

Honestly I don't think it is that great of a movie to take a chance on. Our kids (6 & 7) weren't bothered by any of the above things and they have zero interest in seeing it again.

My DD (then 5) was hyterical in HISTA. Took me by surprise, because it didn't sound scary to me, and she went through the Haunted Mansion without blinking an eye. She is 12 now, and still won't even try ITTBAB!

I'm 21 and it still scares me :cutie: Some of the effects are pretty creepy.. even if she's brave I have seen a little kid or two get hysterical pretty much every time I've seen it. The 3D effects are pretty cool though, maybe if you're worried about her being scared you can have her sit cross-legged so she won't feel the mice effect. That's the scariest part for a little kid, IMO.
