I'm looking into one step up from the base model in either of these cars. I want a moonroof and 4wd. The problem is, I can't decide between the two. They are quite comparable, even in reviews. They both have basically no $$ incentives either. I think the Rav4 drives slightly smoother but the Honda CRV has a tiny bit more pep.

Does anyone own one or have any experience/opinions?

I have to say, I was behind a Honda yesterday and almost smashed into the back of him...DUE to the rear lights on that thing!! They suck! I could see a thing, the way that they are positioned on the vehicle are just very bad!!!

I just test drove both of these cars this past December. I will tell you that I am a "Toyota Girl" all the way. I have owned two Camrys and currently own a Highlander. Anyway, I ended up preferring the Honda CR-V to the RAV-4. It just seemed more "plush" inside and I like the dash better. I think you will do great with either car.

We test drove both this fall and preferred the CRV. It felt a bit roomier (don't know why, they are the same inside:confused3 ) and the engine definitely seemed peppier. I also thought the ride was smoother and handling on our curvy roads was better.

If you really enjoy driving..., get a Honda.

If you drive just because you have to....get a Toyota.

Across the board...Honda's have always been more driver oriented, with precise controls and responses...whereas Toyota's have been more about quiet dependable boring transportation.

Personally I decided to go for the CR-V. Mostly because I don't like cushy rides. The Rav4 was a bit too "mushy" especially at slower speeds. I didn't care for that when I had to go on a few on ramps for the highways that I travel often. I also hated the interior of the Rav4. It just felt cheap to me compared to the CR-V. Granted I am a Honda driver so I am more used to the layouts and the like.

This is exactly how I felt about the RAV4 and I am very used to driving Toyotas. I just so preferred the CR-V that I was amazed at myself!

I've been considering these 2 cars as well. The optional 3rd row seat in the RAV-4 is the deciding factor for me.

Presently I am driving a CRV EK-L (2003) and like it.
I am not to found of the new look CRV.

Thank you so much. I like the CRV, I just wish I could get the price down a couple thousand. There are absolutely no dealer incentives for it anywhere either.

I LOVE my CR-V!  :car:

One more thing to consider - Honda holds its value as a trade-in higher than Toyota. I know this for a fact. My daughter and I have tested this theory several times.

I own a 2004 CRV and absolutely LOVE it!! Would not trade it for the world!!
Did I mention I love my car!:lovestruc

Firstly, I voted for the wrong one! D'oh! Minus one from Honda and plus one to Toyota.

My mother had this very same dilemma last year and she went with the RAV-4.

My (can't say it!) dfi's mother just bought a 2008 CRV. Black on black Apline Edition. It's really nice. Personally I wouldn't own another black car. Haven't driven it but she says it's quite nice.

Maybe this is why I keep getting rear ended by another car at least once a year. :confused3 I thought perhaps I had a bullseye painted on the back but maybe people have trouble with the placement of the lights. They are a bit strange.

To answer the OP's question we have a 2000 CR-V and I love it. It is a great car and I have been extremely happy for it. I have almost 96k on it right now and it still drives great. I am hoping to get another 2 years out of it before I get something else and I am really considering getting another CR-V then just because I have been so happy with this one but I think I want a white one next time instead of the green.

I love both cars. I rented a RAV4 in Florida and I just LOVED the ride. I have owned a CRV-EX since 2001 and I'm in love with that too. I'm useless. :lmao: My next car will be a hybrid but if they made a CRV hybrid or a RAV hybrid...I'll be all over that.
