DD14 has some homework problems that we need help with the first one is an example it is: 26=L in the A it is 26=Letters in the Alphabet.

We need help on these ones 57= H V
64= S on a C

This is for 8th grade algebra. I don't know what the teacher is trying to do unless he is just trying to give the kids and parents a headache.

What does that have to do with algebra??? I thought algebra was something along the lines of having to solve for x and y. Whatever happened to that? And I feel really stupid, because I could only solve one of those.

This is just the busy work teachers give kids because too many are gone this week on vacation, and the teachers do not want to reteach the "real" material.

This crud just ticks me off. Oops - the OP or the PP didn't ask for me to stand on my soapbox...it just sort of snuck up on me...

If you like this type of puzzle, Google the word "ditloids" - that's what they're called. You can get hundreds more for free.

I have a whole sheet of them that I used to pass out to my students.

for example, the second one down on this list is "1001 Arabian Knights"
then 12 Signs of the Zodiac, and so on. Some have a biblical reference.
