My DS is in 6th grade. His homework is corrected and graded (by another student - they switch papers with who is sitting next to them). Then they read off their grades to the teacher. Their homework grades count as 75%
and their test grades count as 25% of their final grade. DS brought home a printout of his grades so far this marking period. I went through his math workbook and found that some of the problems that were marked wrong were in fact correct. He needs every point that he can get
. I feel that if these grades are counting for such a large part of his final grade, that the teacher should be the one correcting and grading these papers.
What ever happened to the day when homework was to reinforce what was taughted that day in class and so that the teacher could see what the students understood and what they needed a little help in?

The teacher discontinued the policy after several parents discussed this with her.
