We are planning a summer trip to Disneyland. I am looking for a suites property. Our travel party includes myself, my Mom (who is a snorer) and two teenage nieces. I would like to get a suite so that we can shut the door and let Mom snore in peace. In addition, we will need to rent a electronic scooter for my Mom.

After a bit of research I was leading toward Park Vue Inn but on a call to the Manager I was was told they wouldn't guarantee a first floor unit for the scooter.

I am now looking at Homewood Suites. Can someone recommend whether that would be a good property for our group? How far is the walk? Is it safe? Will my Mom be able to motor her way with the scooter? I have stayed at the Anaheim Hilton for a conference. Is the Homewood property closer to Disneyland or farther away than the Hilton?

Any insight would be much appreciated.

There are 2 Homewood Suites. The newer one, Homewood Suites Convention Center is right next to the Toy Story parking lot. Technically, you could go take the bus from that lot, even though it is for people who park there, lots of people walk there and take the bus for free. You could walk to the parks and it is probably a 15 minute walk.

The other Homewood Suites is called Maingate and is nowhere near the main gate. It's further away on the same street as the other one. It will be a minimum 30 minute walk, probably a bit longer. The Toy Story lot is about halfway to the park, so you could walk to the lot and then take the bus the rest of the way. I had a car when I stayed here and drove to the parks. I do not think I'd want to walk back here in the dark late at night.

There's a Hampton Inn and Suites kind of in the middle of those 2 places. I stayed there not too long ago. It took us 20 mins to walk at a fast pace. It was fine on our way to the park, but seemed really far at the end of a 9 hour day of walking around all day.

Homewood Suites will be a great property for you to stay at as the suite doors are tight and reasonably soundproof. They have a pretty good breakfast too. I couldve walked the distance fine, about 15 mins but was travelling with my parents. So we caught the shuttle from next door toy story parking lot, about 5 mins walk away. They will look after your mum in her scooter well as they have specific buses to cope with that. These buses are usually the closest ones to the exit when you leave too. Shuttles go continuously so you never have to worry about a schedule.

Once again, WHICH Homewood Suites? There are two near Disneyland. "Anaheim Resort - Convention Center" and "Anaheim - Main Gate Area".

I stayed at the Convention Center one in May. The walk is about a mile, which is manageable. We used the Toy Story shuttles mostly though. The only time we walked was the morning we used our Magic Morning, because the shuttles from the Toy Story lot were not yet running. I haven't spent a lot of time in Anaheim to really know the area, but the walk seemed safe enough. It's a straight shot down Harbor Blvd, which is busy and well lit. There are wide sidewalks on both sides of the road, so should be fine for a scooter. The hotel is very nice and I would definitely stay there again. As for the suite for your setup, I think all of their suites are one bedroom. So the only way to separate your mom from the rest would be for you and your nieces to sleep in the bedroom and have your mom on the pull-out couch full size bed. They don't have 2-bedroom suites like you can often find at Residence Inns.
