DH and I have decided to buy a home near WDW. Are there any builders or areas out there to avoid ? We are at the moment thinking of Kissimme area, though are considering Clermont and Davenport.

I wish you the best of luck,it's my dream to do what your doing someday.::yes:: :wave2:

Thanks anyway danny1649. I only wish we could afford to live here permanently:p
Its a future investment for us and our kids. We will be renting it out at first and you can be confident that it will be a WDW themed home;) :p

Go over to the RB and seek out a poster named "Ducklite" She and her DH are building a retirement home about 12 miles from WDW, and in her sig she has a picture taken from the lanai. It is a perfect view of the Epcot sphere. I'm sure she could give you some info, she is very nice....Soooooo envious.....I'm green..:bounce:

Call the local Chamber of Commerces or Board of Realtors in the areas you are thinking of. Remember to ask for homes on the market as well. It may be more economical for you to purchase a home than to build. I know the economy has hit many of the Northern and Eastern homeowners who may have had a vacation home in Florida. The last time we were down there, condos and timeshares were so available they had their own realty organizations for only that market.

There are places in the Arkansas Ozarks that do exactly what you are thinking of: buy a house and then rent it out all year except for the times the homeowners want to use it. Try getting a perspective from those groups as well. Why reinvent the wheel!

Good Luck!

I am familiar with Ducklite and have asked her about her home. Our home will be for families of Disney fans in choices of themed rooms (bedspreads pictures etc that can be moved and changed) We intend on buying a home or site later this year and our home is a place we hope to reside permanently, some day, so will be decorated immacculately.(I have stayed in some pretty yukky vacation homes in Orlando) Therefore we will rent our home until this day is possible.

Sounds like an idea with a lot of potential.:D Good luck on that.:D

We are building a *very* nice home in a very nice new sub in Saint Cloud. The builder is Greater Homes. They have been fabulous!:sunny: Their homes include so many features that most other home companies charge for. A friend of mine built with them in another neighborhood and she loves her home. ::yes::

If you have any questions, feel free to PM or email me.:wave2:

Oh - I would love to move there! Hope everything works out for you and hope you can move there permanently soon.:D
