Homemade goodies that keep well?

I know you plan on making chocolate covered pretzels but you MUST MUST MUST do this savory pretzel snack also. Easy to make and easy to store indefinitely. Bob's (not sure why he gets the credit :rotfl:) Delicious Pretzels 32 oz. pretzels (If I remember right that's usually about 2 bags) 1 pkg. dry Hidden Valley Ranch mix 1 tsp. dill weed 1 tsp. garlic salt 1 bottle Orville Redenbacher's popcorn oil Mix oil and all seasonings well. Put pretzels in large Ziploc bags. Pour oil mixture over pretzels and shake/stir/mix well. Leave the bags on your counter for two days and flip/shake the bag whenever you think of it but as often as possible. After two days, store bags in the refrigerator. (Everyone absolutely loves them. In fact, the hospital where I work has started making them for sale in their cafeteria.)

This sounds yummy! I'd love to try it. When do you drain the oil ? Do you bake it out or does it absorb into the pretzels after days? Thanks for sharing.

It doesn't need to be drained or baked. The pretzels absorb pretty much all the oil in the bags after sitting on the counter for two days. I just store them in the same ziploc bags in the refrigerator until I serve them to guests. Easy peasy and so good! ::yes::

Bob's (not sure why he gets the credit :rotfl:) Delicious Pretzels

32 oz. pretzels (If I remember right that's usually about 2 bags)
1 pkg. dry Hidden Valley Ranch mix
1 tsp. dill weed
1 tsp. garlic salt
1 bottle Orville Redenbacher's popcorn oil

Mix oil and all seasonings well. I just made this today for a work event this week -- it's been several years since I'd made it. I halved the recipe to a cup of popcorn oil and used 1 and 1/2 Tablespoons of the ranch mix. The whole family's under orders to flip the bag over whenever they're in the kitchen. I double-bagged because somehow I'd gotten oil on the outside of the bag -- not sure if it leaked through or if I spilled.

Now on to the frosted cranberries!

My sister makes a mini pretzel treat that's delicious. You top a mini pretzel twist with a Hershey's kiss and heat it (microwave or oven) until the kiss is just barely melted then top with a red or green m&m. Cool until the kiss hardens back up again. They keep for a long time and are very easy to put together on short notice. They are VERY addictive though.
Thanks for posting this. I tried this and they were a real hit!

Love.Love.Love this thread. In the past I've never had the time to make Christmas goodies so I've never made any. This year I find myself with time to spare so I made a few things on this thread and thought I would let you know what worked for me.
I made Bob's pretzels, yum! Easy peasy recipe and very delicious.
I made the pretzels with rolo's and pecans. Again very easy to make but the kids eat these faster than I can make them.
Lastly, Carla's sugar nuts. Fussy to make, they started to burn 10 minutes prior to when they were supposed to be finished. BUT, the ones that didn't burn were fantastic! Thanks for the great ideas! I plan to try more :)
