Homeless Dis'ers set sail *sound* on some posts

I just finished making up that Punch now I'm working on the Jello shots, I 'll start with the food after that.

I was travel agent once upon a time and some of the stories I heard :earseek:

The beaches clubs in the caribbean are also very nice for traveling with kids the yare run by the sandels people.
The resorts in Cayman would be a good choice no all- inclusives (there is one but its off the beaten path)though some of the resorts offer meal plans

The Atlantis in the Bahamas is another possibility.

Okay well the partys all set the band is ready to go on at 4 the only problem is I think everyone slept in!

Whoooo hooo Jello Shots!

OK - where is everyone! Is everyone still trying on their outfits.

If we don't get more people out of their cabins the party is going to look like this tonight:

Well, after all was said and done, that stupid seamstress interpretted what I said about having a hunk attached to the costume as this:

Man, you have no idea how many fittings this took.

So, I have raised a new flag on our ship

So we should be all set to party tonight.

AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH - Ahoy, Mateys! Don't put up the gangway and start the party without me. But, Blimey, I have board meetings today and tomorrow and these buccaneer bosses of mine are actually making me work for me treasure. The scallywags!

Methinks I'll need quite a few of Ed's painkiller drinks afore this is through......

so pull up a bar stool and give me some travel advice. I want to go somewhere in October. I currently have plane tickets booked into Ft. Lauderdale because I wanted to grab some really good fares on SWA, therefore no change fees either. But, I am having a hard time finding decent fares into Orlando so I may have to use FTL as a launching off point anyways. I am looking to be as cheap as I can be about this or else my husband will say no way. Therefore, while I do salivate at the Beaches ads and brochures, I think we have to stay mainland USA.

Do I go on a DCL cruise and do an inside cabin when we are used to cruising in a Mini suite on Princess?
Do I go on a Princess Cruise and go mini suite but no characters?
Do I go down to the Keys?
Do I take advantage of the 7 for 5 deal in WDW?
Do I scrap the south altogether and just suck it up and spend the week at my in-laws Maine house with them in residency?

What would you do?

MY vote would either be the keys a short flight from there or long drive.

Or the DCL cruise.

Or you could find a nice resort in the FLL or MIA area.

Time to head for home from work I'll do some thinking and let you know.

Good morning this your Capt if anyone is left on GHOST SHIP welcome to Grenada is a rolling, mountainous island, covered with fragrant spice trees and rare tropical flowers. Bordered by stunning beaches, and dotted with picturesque towns, this verdant island has long been a major source of nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, and cocoa. The seductive drifts through the colourful Saturday markets and Grenada's dense forests. In the interior of this volcanic island are cascading rivers and waterfalls, lush rainforests, and one of the most breathtakingly beautiful mountain lakes imaginable. The capital, St. George's, is widely held to be the loveliest city in the Caribbean. Its horseshoe-shaped harbour is surrounded by a pastel rainbow of dockside warehouses and the red-tiled roofs of traditional shops and homes.

I'm here, I'm here. I've been hiding in my room. My 'outfit' just didn't come out so good. Waaaay too much of me and not nearly enough of the costume. So, I've been under me bunk, if you know what I mean.

What a beautiful spot you've chosen for us today Capt. Ed. There has to be a nice warm beach with a palm tree with my name on it someplace in there. Maybe a hammock and a beverage. This is one nice ship.

Hey guys, I put out a public service announcement to explain the Homeless DIS'rs to everyone who wants to join in but doesn't. Help me keep it bumped up. Also, if I didn't explain it properly please feel free to tell me or post there and I will amend my explanation.

So goodmorning! I am psyched about being in Grenada. I have always wanted to go there. OK - I am off to gather some info about sites.

Anyone for hiking in a Nature Reserve prior to lunch?

Grand Etang Lake and Forest Reserve
The most popular area in Grenada for hiking and trekking is undoubtedly the rainforest around the Grand Etang Forest Reserve, high up in the mountains of the island's interior. Grand Etang's varied elevations and terrains maintain several different ecological subsystems, culminating in the elfin woodlands high up the slopes of the reserve's central mountains. The focal point of the forest reserve is Grand Etang Lake, which fills the crater of one of the island's extinct volcanos. The rainforest around the lake holds a stupendously rich diversity of flora and fauna. Colourful tropical birds, tiny frogs and lizards, and rare orchids punctuate the dense rainforest vegetation, and the trails meander around the area's stunning waterfalls as well as the azure waters of Grand Etang Lake.

Grand Etang's flora includes towering mahogany and giant gommier trees as well as a multitude of ferns, tropical flowers, and other indigenous plants. The lush vegetation provides shelter for a wide variety of animals, particularly for the island's many species of birds. The broad-winged hawk (known here as the gree-gree), Lesser Antillean swift, Antillean euphonia, purple-throated carib, Antillean crested hummingbird (known as the little doctor bird), and the Lesser Antillean tanager (known as the soursop) are all common sights. In addition, the Grand Etang is populated by plenty of frogs and lizards, as well as playing host to opossums, armadillos, mongooses, and the mona monkey.

Hikes at Grand Etang range from easy 15-minute jaunts to rigorous expeditions of several hours. The trails are quite good, and the Forest Reserve provides excellent guides (both written and human).

Hey - our ships chef told me about some local Grenadine favorite dishes:

Crab and Callaloo: Crab backs cooked with callaloo and served hot. These are land crabs, not the marine variety.

Pepper pot: several different kinds of meat, beef, oxtail, pork ..... whatever is available, cooked with a lot of pepper, garlic, onions chive and thyme and usually served with rice and peas.

Pig souse: made from the knuckles and trotters and usually with grated cucumber.

Roti: (anyone familiar with the food at Boma will have heard of this one) beef, chicken or vegetables, cooked with lots of curry and potatoes and served in a skin. Quite popular, and if done in the Trinidadian way, then it also has Chana (a type of nut).

Lambie souse (conch): If done properly, has a delicious smoky aftertaste and a flavor all its own.

For those of you with a yen for something a little different, you can also try;

Manicou: Possum - When done properly, it tastes wonderful. The most commonly asked question is, what does it taste like? The answer is of course, it tastes like chicken.

So I am still trying to find somewhere for lunch - Anyone have any suggestions?

I want to have a hammock beside goofy4tink - that area is just beautiful.

castlegazer, I'll skip the possum but take the Roti. As far as the Crab and Callaloo - I give, what the heck is a Callaloo?

Meanwhile, I was just over on castlegazer's invite thread and invited folks over for coffee. SO HEAR THIS - everybody up and dressed, we might have company. And be on your best behavior!

Also welcome to any and all lurkers!

I'm up for that nature walk, this is one my Favorite islands if you ever get the chance visit even if you find a cruise that will go in for the day.

And the La Source resort and spa, heaven.

::yes:: ::yes::

Who needs characters? Space is much more important.

Oh, a woman after my own heart! Once you go Mini Suite, there's no turning back. Having your own butler, having dinners and breakfasts brought to you out on the veranda can not be beat. I was looking at pictures of the verandas on DCL and they are not very big, huh? You really could not eat out there. Our Veranda on Princess was huge. We had two lounges along with a full sized table with two chairs at it and there was plenty of room to walk around. One drawback to Princess, though, is that unlike DCL, the other rooms in lower categories do not accomodate a third person as they don't have a sleeper couch. Disney does a good job doing this. I also really like the children's programming and found out yesterday that I can go along with my son, who will be too young to participate by himself, and he can then participate with me by his side. They have very cool programs!

I have no bloody idea! Go ask the chef!
