Hi. Hubby's promotion = salary increase! We thought of loaning our own home very soon! I'm now searching for an institution, aside from banks, who offers low interest rates. I already inquired with 2 banks and I want to compare what other institutions offer. Any ideas?

I've not worked with a mortgage lender that wasn't also a banking institution, but I might recommend working with a mortgage broker. Friends of ours had a great experience and I'd go that route too, but I actually work at a bank so the process is different for me I'd also recommend Lending Tree, although I've only used it for smaller personal loans and a home equity loan. It was a good experience.

Do you belong to Costco?
They have loan offers that are pretty good and you get a nice size gift card after the loan closes.
