Remy got into cheerleading last year..which was awesome cause it only cost 50.00 (uniform included) and was WAY cheaper than her ballet was costing us. She of course wants to continue this upcoming football season so I have been calling around to get the info for it. Today I finally got ahold of the youth sport association in FL where we are moving to see when registration time was and what the fees were..and about swallowed my tongue in sticker shock! I was expecting maybe 200.00 but shoulda know better LOL. Costs are:
Registration fee: 55.00
Membership fee: 35.00
Shell/Skirt: 115.00
Shoes: 50.00
Crop Top: 22.00
Briefs: 21.00
Socks: 11.00
Shipping charges: 10.00
Total cost: 319.00!!!
None of this includes any optional competition costs..kinda scared to know what those are LOL.
The teams up here only let you "borrow" the uniforms and down there you buy them. I just bought a pair of Kaepa cheer shoes last season and now I have to get a pair of Nike ! I called my mom to whine and thank goodness she offered to pay for half of it it. DH is gonna flip though..he has NO clue what girls cost *sigh*. I know alot of sports are more expensive, but I just wasn't expecting so much for a Mites team KWIM..at least not based on costs up here LOL. I am not even gonna think about gas costs..her games span 3 counties and 2 states according to the lady I talked to today. I was holding back whimpers LOL.

Anyone else have sticker shock with their kiddos activities?

Be thankful she switched from dance. We spend well over $3,000 a year and that doesn't include competitions.

Even though my DD is only 3, I still feel your pain. DD is now in dance and between that and her gymnastics, its already getting pricey.

I laughed at my friend , who only has sons. Her son and my son go to Cub Scouts together. She was whining when she had to spend $30.00 on a cub scout shirt plus the tie , belt pants and so forth. I just laughed and told her about DD's dance expenses, she's never said a word again about cub scouts.

True..This kills us, it really does. We have one month left, and then the show..Thank god, only one more payment..And all the outfits have already been paid for.:woohoo: :woohoo: '

DS11's football seems so cheap.

yes...football each season $300.00  WHAT!!!!! he's only 10 years old but thats what us moms and dads do...we go broke making our kids happy :rotfl2: after all it is Cheerleading....football....socker....baseball....and so on and so on. I feel like the sports leagues are just siting there saying "show me the Money" :lmao:

Go for it and go for broke :thumbsup2

We are lucky we have DD is up to 3 soccer leagues at a time but thats like $40 to $60 for each one every 3 months or so. Then you add the $100 or so each for new indoor/outdoor shoes every 6 months and thats not that bad.

I raced motocross, then Jetskis and just stopped playing paintball all on the national level so I know what it can cost.

I just look at it like Disney vacations as an investment in her future.
