Holy Diagon Alley Batman!

Please remember that Express Pass isn't "front of the line". I've had a line of people who all also had EP in front of me. A shorter line, sure, absolutely, but still a line. It's not supposed to be FOTL. Unless you go on a freezing cold day in December 2010 and everyone else is hiding away in their rooms, staying warm, of course. :)

At least it has a short line, lol.

My enjoyment of Little Mermaid increases the shorter I wait for it. So at DCA I really like it. At MK, not so much.

That is a great story!:wizard:

It was a great moment.

If I knew Japanese I would go to.

Aw, don't wait. Don't let language hold you back!

Yes Primeval Whirl is better than Goofy Sky School in terms of themeing .
I just think of state fair or side of the highway fair rides when I get on them. Its better than nothing but I would like something more unique ie expensive not cheap

I actually went on a ride with a track like that, at our local waterpark/amusement park. And the whole time we were longing for PW or even Goofy's (I love PW and despise Goofy's). The local-park ride was just so much more poorly done, themed, and I was fairly sure I was going to plummet off the side, even more than the feeling I get on Goofy's (I still think of it it as Mulholland Madness")

Depends on when you go, of course. I think out of all the times I've stayed at Pop, there's only one instance where I paid more than $100/night. Of course, it helps that I'm a FL resident and can choose to go at slower times of the year. I'd LOVE to stay on property at Uni, but my wallet just won't allow it.

As a FL resident, you get to check the code "FLO" on the same link I gave earlier and am about to link to again. Users of the code will, of course, have to show FL residency proof at checkin.

The Universal resorts have suites if your looking for something comparable to a 1 bedroom at BLT. A standard room and a 1 bedroom aren't really comparable.

Was wondering-do any suites at US have kitchens? Not the you need one, but just not seeing any on the floor plans.

It also shows 125 total suites between the 3 resorts. Is that correct? BLT alone has 295 2 Bedrooms.

Royal Pacific always had express pass.

Thanks, I knew we had it at HRH but do not remember it at RP. I'm sure prices have risen because of FOTL anyway. What was the change in 2005 from Universal Express to Universal Express Plus? Was that just so you could buy it if off site?

You can't keep comparing suites at Universal to DVC's at Disney. They are a completely different thing.

Dang that's too bad, since that's what we compare when deciding where to stay down there. Oh well, ya learn something new every day. ;)

Threads like these are making re-evaluate our trip to at least consider throwing a Universal Day in there. Wife and I are both major HP geeks.

If you are HP geeks I'd make some time. Universal has it going on, Disney not so much these days. Disney is coasting while everyone else is giving you a reason to go.
This from a Disney fan.

Exactly. DVC is not a standard hotel suite or room, it's a timeshare. They are not built to be comparable at all. None of the standard Disney Deluxe hotels(not DVC) have the same amenities as DVC either so why should the Universal deluxe resorts.:confused3

Yep. And does this standard room at the Poly look like it should cost $253 more per night than RPH during the time we are going to FL?:confused3

I keep looking at that picture of the Poly room and laughing and saying "omg"! I don't think I could sleep in a room that obnoxious! I think my "cheap-o" room at Pop was even more subdued and subtle than that!

It reminds me of those Route 66 themed out motor courts that were like $40 a night. If it were Art of Animation I could understand the over the top theming but to be an expensive resort. Wow! Just wow!

Ooh, I did not know about that code. Thanks for the heads up!

You are welcome!

Agreed. Hotel rooms vs timeshares. So different.

We own DVC (at Bay Lake, even) but don't compare it for a second to onsite at Universal. (though if Uni made a timeshare that got the same perks as onsite there? Bye bye DVC! Unless we've already paid it off by then. Then we might own both)

Awesome comparison! Thanks!

I was thinking when the RPR pix were shown..."yeah, that does look deluxe to me, relative to what I know of deluxe". DVC is a timeshare, not "deluxe" for me. I've never stayed at a truly over the top ridiculously expensive and worth it hotel so yep, RPR does it for me. :) Though Portofino is actually my fave. :)

Thank you. I was just trying to compare apples to apples. But apparently apples are really really expensive at Disney ( and can make you really sleepy).:)

But...Disney and Universal aren't apples to apples. It isn't comparing one park to another, or one hotel against another

You ever see Pulp Fiction? Man, you're not even in the same ball park (I'll leave off the colorful language).

Remember the rental car company that was happy to be #2? They tried harder but were still #2.

Sorry dude, but your beloved Universal is #2. Better rooms, great rides, but #2. Not even in the same ball park. Just be happy you're #2. Great job! :)

When they overtake Disney I'll listen to your opinion but until then...meh.

Not fair about the rooms at Polynesian, they did finally update them since that picture.

And believe me, I HATE bedspreads (like so much that I choose hotels based on that fact) so that's why I know this. :rotfl:

I don't get these comments. There can only be one number 1 in any category and I would personally never insist on only that number 1 item. I would certainly consider number 2 (or number 1000 or whatever). What does turnstyle spins have to do with how nice hotels are or how good attractions are?

I actually prefer people like you don't listen to my opinion. Less people in line in front of me (to use a classic rose-colored example). Not that it really matters with FOTL so that isn't a great example of "apples to apples".

And the analogy was comparing lodging accommodtions, not the parks. I've made 25 more trips to Disney than I have Universal. How many times have you stayed in the Poly and Royal Pacific? Remember, this topic is about rooms. Enlighten me on the topic at hand. That room is REALLY worth $253/ more per night ($403 total)?

And just so we are clear, my beloved park(s) is WDW. Universal will not overtake WDW. I don't think one person has made that claim. Next time try not to dance around the actual topic at hand...

Sorry, I was just being relevant to the RPH pics posted by jade, using her time frame. Not that bedspreads should cause a $253/night increase.;)

No, not that much. :) But god, those were ugly. I actually couldn't believe how long the Grand Floridian had those horrid bedspreads.... yes, I'm a bedspread snob.
