Holy Diagon Alley Batman!

It just wouldn't pass the "sniff test" for the Board, stockholders and the Analysts to have it inflate attendance by a huge percentage. Look at it this way. There's no better way for an Exec Team to turn an Earnings Call or a Board Meeting into an exit interview than to do this:

Exec's: "We've increased our attendance numbers by 35%...!"

Board/Analysts: "Excellent! What were the Rev, Profit and Per Guest Spend increases - 30% or better..?"

Exec's: "Ummm.... actually around 4%. We kinda kept counting all those guests re-riding HE over and over each time they re-entered the Parks"

And you're right, everybody does love attendance figures. It's why I try to avoid those discussions even more than the ECV ones. Send me a "What the heck were you thinking..?" PM the next time I jump in either one ;)

The question is how many are going to buy a 2 park pass rather than just the normal one? We are going for a day Thanksgiving week to check out HP and probably will buy a 1 Day 2 Park pass when I normally would have probably bought a pass for IOA.

I noticed more than a few people on this thread mention the "Avatarland" and Star Wars land. I think the Avatar one was mentioned a year or two ago but haven't heard anyone mention lately when the expected completion date is on either of these projects. Does anyone have an update on the status of these 2 projects? I am not particularly that interested in the Avatar one but would see it if I visit anyways because I did like the movie. The possibility of an addition of Star Wars Land in my lifetime however would have me planning a trip.

From my understanding, Universal will only count a maximum of two themepark visits per day no matter how many times you re-enter. I think that Disney does the same thing.

We already go back and forth between the Uni parks sometimes several times. It's just too easy. I doubt that they are counting every re-entry.

Avatar I have heard early 2016. Star Wars was teased at D23 2013. If we don't hear anything about it soon I would imagine we will have a concrete date for it at D23 2015. I personally believe D23 2015 is going to be a turning point for WDW with several expansion announcements and updates.

I'm not so sure, and also how do you know this as fact? It would really help bring up attendance in slow months.

It was discussed at the media event in which I attended last month. It was brought up and what was said is that it will count just like all other park hoppers/re-entries have always counted. One entry into Studios and then one entry into IOA, after that it would be a standard reentry scan into the parks like if you were to head out to City Walk for lunch and then head back into the park. Basically the same as they have always done and as Disney does now with re-entry. You are counted once per ticket per day, re-entry scans do not tally.

I'm not sure why HE would be any different entry wise than any other time you would leave the park and later return.:confused3

I think the part your missing is that "Orlando" is not a destination without themeparks...

Orlando is like Pittsburgh with some gators and warmer weather...

The other cities and parts of Florida offer much more to fill "destinations" than central Florida.

You HAVE to do the parks because the entire area was built specifically for it and you get sucked in.

A couple nights in Miami, followed by a week with a tank of air strapped to my back somewhere off Largo, Marathon, and Key West is more of a Florida "destination" to me.

Shows how people are different,I live in Miami and it bores me,I don't do clubs or go drinking, the beach is fine but I prefer water parks and aside from that all people do here is go to the mall.As far as the keys,I haven't been to the Keys in like 10-12 years.Seems like I'm living in the wrong place as I do like 8-10 Orlando trips a year.

Avatar won't be opened until 2017.

And that pretty much settles that. Thanks, fairy.:thumbsup2

I would love to go to the keys but we never seem to make it that far. We all love St Augustine but that is a pretty good hike from Miami.

The keys are great. We spent every summer with relatives in FL growing up. We spent a lot of time hanging out on Islamorada and Key West. I have fond memories of eating raw oysters at Holiday Isle and breaking a tooth on a pearl. I thought I was rich! Then the Rum Runners kicked in.:rolleyes1

Sounds very much like you should change from "233 miles away" to "2.33 miles away". For the record, I find Miami a great place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. Actually, my brother lived and worked at WDW for 10 years and then transfered to Miami/Hallendale with a two year commitment and as soon as the two years were up, he got the heck out. Hated it. (But I loved visiting him, though not as much as I loved visiting him when he managed a hotel at WDW :p)

Yep,one of these days, the sooner the better!I have probably met hundreds of people who have moved here who realized visiting is better than living here, and most end up getting out like your brother. The truth is the same can be said for Orlando but Orlando meshes better with me,I'm a theme park geek,100%.

Yea it does. :rotfl:

I really have no reason to doubt you, its actually nice to know how it all works. I always figured if I left EPCOT for lunch at ESPN-my return scan would count as another park entry.

Sounds like your saying all the parks will recognize your pass and not count it again.

I wonder if that's some kind of law-or can they play with the numbers all they want? Sounds like a lot of room to "massage" the numbers.

Yea it does. :rotfl:

I can only hope that you aren't, and I don't think you are, trying to insinuate that if there is an increase in attendance that brings them closer to DHS or AK that it's because of HE.

Barley can be a great source for whit. Or so I hear.::yes:: But I am more a fan of the hops.

But I have to be honest with you. Sometimes I get ticked off that my Fitbit Flex won't unlock my front door or allow me to buy beer with a swipe of my wrist. It's pretty good at reminding me just how many unactive minutes I had today, though. Pfffft!
