Holy crap! My entire area is under water!

Here I am at work and all of Nashville and its surrounding areas are underwater! This is crazy! And people are calling the PD complaining! LIKE I CAN STOP THE RAIN PEOPLE!!! AAAAAAAAAAAH!

Bad news, In my part of Australia we had several major floods last year. Several hundreds cars lost. Property that had been repaired from one flood damaged in the next.

I used to work dispatch for Nashville. Honestly I'm so glad I don't have to deal with it anymore.

We are currenly in the Hickory Hollow area at my inlaws. It is a little better here today than yesterday but we know several people who have lost everything due to flooding.

I live in Nashvile too. I have never seen so much rain! Spent a couple hours at my parents' house that currently has a river running through the basement. Thank God the rain is ending soon.

We had that last month. Still some parts of my town are completely flooded. We have never had this sort of flooding in my area. Not in my lifetime, anyway.

Here in Franklin it is bad too- and as I write this it is raining again! Thankfully there is no school tomorrow and it is supposed to be dry and sunny this week.

Makes me wonder if we should change our plans...we were planning to spend the night in Nashville on our drive down to Florida. How bad is it?

I'm in Nashville, also. Actually, Madison. We've been watching the news almost non-stop for the past two days. The pictures of the cars on I-24 yesterday was very scary. I'm glad no one in our family was flooded because some were very close to flooded areas. I was so worried about my elderly mother in West Nashville, without lights and not sure if we could get to her. I was so glad when her lights came back on. We're supposed to have a few rain free days, so hopefully the water will go down and people can start getting things back to normal. It's going to take a while. Our prays are with everyone here, especially those who have lost loved ones.

Right now it's really bad, but by the time you get here, hopefully it will be better.

I'm not so worried about the roads in a week as I am the hotel situation. Who knows which ones sustained water damage, but also in terms of locals needing the hotels more than we do. Does that make sense?

I hope your mom is doing okay. I really feel for all of you. I hope it all gets cleaned up quickly and the damage isn't as bad as they're saying.

The Opryland Hotel has 6-10 feet of water in it. They had to put several people out of rooms and into a nearby high school for a time. I would say to try a hotel in Franklin or Madison. These are close to Nashville. The interstates are open again now, but the flooding is crazy! Check out some of the pics from flikr:

I saw that about Opryland. That's just crazy! My husband called the hotel we have reservations for and they said everything was fine there. Here's hoping it stays that way. The pictures I saw of I-24 were just amazing. I couldn't believe it.
