Any suggestions on where to eat on our Hollywood Studios day at the parks? Should i eat outside of the park or is there someplace in HS worth trying?

Brown Derby, Prime Time and Sci-Fi are all very good in their own ways.

I'd vote for the DErby and I have had good food at Mama Melrose as well.

We had a great lunch at Sci Fi during our last trip. I was a bit leery of it given the questionable reviews on here but it was pretty good. And although we skipped it last time, 50's PT is great. We have eaten there many times and loved it every time.

We had dinner at Sci-Fi last week. I was worried because of all of the horrible reviews I've read over the years. It was actually pretty good.

We loved the 50's Prime Time Cafe. The food was very good and we had the coolest waitress! But just a word of warning, I have read some people think the wait staff was rude (just part of the schtick, but some say it was overboard). However, that was not our experience!

Good luck and have fun!

The Brown Derby is very good but very expensive as well. The Sci-Fi is fun w/ mediocre food. mama Melrose is decent and a good choice for dinner package

I am not a fan of the Prime Time. I find the schtick annoying but others love it. The Hollywood & Vine is disappointing to me. A definate no

As for CS, I do not like this park's choices. The Catering Co. near the Backlot Tour is better than the rest to me. I like the greek salad

You have some real fine choices in the resorts near there like the Boardwalk. Or better yet, with park hoppers, you can take the boat to Epcot near the International Gateway

Sci-Fi and Prime Time 50's are no questions asked traditions for us. We eat at these two on every trip and never had a bad experience.

Sci-Fi is one of our top 2 choices in all the parks for lunch.

Go and enjoy!

The table-service restaurants at DHS are very good, and the Brown Derby gets some of the highest reviews of any restaurant on property. Of course, you must have ADR's for the table service restaurants. That includes 50's Prime Time Cafe and Sci Fi Drive In. Both are outstanding.

We are counter-service folks, though, because we don't like to take the time in a park to stop for a full meal. DHS is not the best park for counter-service, but there are some really good and unique offerings (if you know where to look). Here are a few CS suggestions from me:

- Fairfax Salad (pulled pork salad) at Fairfax Fare.
- Turkey Focaccia at Starring Rolls.
- Chicken Curry with Rice at the ABC Commissary.
- Southwest Chicken Salad at Backlot Express.
- Cheesecake at Backlot Express.
- Hot Italian Sub at Catalina Eddie's.
- Chicken Caesar Salad at Catalina Eddie's
- Italian Sausage with Peppers and Onions from the Dockside Diner.
- Cup of Soup and a slice of Carrot Cake from Rosie's All American Cafe.
- A Pressed Tuscan Deli sandwich from the Studio Catering Company.
- Grilled Vegetable Panini from the Studio Catering Company.
- Chicken Caesar Wrap from the Studio Catering Company.

Hollywood Studios doesn't have the best Counter Service food in Disney World, but it isn't bad. If you avoid the temptation to go to Pizza Planet (all Disney pizza is horrid), and you take the time to get past the burgers, ice cream, and hotdogs, there really are some really good CS choices at DHS.

My DH and I did the F! Package for his bday in April and had a late lunch, early dinner at the Brown Derby- our ADR was for 3:30.

Now, it is an upscale atmosphere so the food might seem more expensive, but he and I both though it was wonderful, especially with the Package. I had the wine flight, salad, the Lamb dish and banana cream pie for dessert, he had beer salad, and a steak (with creme brulee and a bday cupcake). For what we got, the price was fair and the service was spectacular! (And might I add, our server was probably one of the absolute best looking men- soooo adorable!)

They did not rush us and the food was so good!

However, we also love Starring Rolls. We eat there for breakfast and for lunch when we are there- the chocolate muffins are huge and the ham and swiss sammies can't be beat. Plus, their lattes are so much better than Nescafe!

Sci Fi and 50's Prime Time are a MUST for every trip for me. Even in the old days, before dining plans, when they were the only TS meals I could afford for the whole trip - those were the two.

But I'm not a picky eater at all, and I like them mostly for the fun (though *I* personally never thought there was anything wrong with the food).

Loved the Brown Derby. We are trying Mama Melroses in March with the fantasmic package. We tried 50's prime time and hated it. Portions were small and the service was not what I expected, noone was in character. The food was also bland.

DH and I love the Brown Derby! We also love 50s Prime Time.:cool1: Mama Melrose has great food, but terrible (slow) service, so if you have plenty of time, it's also a good bet. :thumbsup2 We didn't care for Sci Fi, but see the appeal. Our food was not good there! Good luck and have a magical vacation!pixiedust:

The Hollywood Brown Derby is really good. If you get there right at 11 am when it opens, they do a cute ribbon cutting ceremony.

NOT the ABC Commissary! It was the worst meal of our last trip.

That's for sure! Yuk! We've never found a good counter service at DS. We usually leave the park, but if we do stay we prefer the Brown Derby or Mama Melrose for TS.
