Hollywood Studios for Non-Thrill Seekers?

We took our kids to Disney for the first time two years ago and only hit MK and AK. We are going back in November and trying to decide whether or not to visit Hollywood Studios. My kids will be 5, 8 and 11 and none of them are big thrill seekers. Tower of Terror and Rock'n Roller Coaster will not be on their list. None of them are big Star Wars fans either. We are also staying off-site, so won't have the dining plan and will not be park hopping.

All that being said, is there anything left that would make it worth going, or should we plan an extra day at Epcot or MK?

We made a day out of DHS but I have small kids that love meeting characters- 1/2 of our day there was at meet and greets. TSMM is great, Star Tours, Great Movie Ride- none of those are thrill rides. We really enjoy the Frozen sing a long and Little mermaid shows. I'm not a Star Wars fan at all but the Fireworks are AMAZING!!

I would look at everything with your family and see if you are interested in enough to spend a day there.

Skip HS like you would skip a free root canal. :) While we were there just recently they had the construction (or should i say DE-construction) folks tearing down the facade of all the skyscrapers. Too much is shuttered.

Toy Story Midway Mania, Indiana Jones, Frozen Sing A Long, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Muppets 3D, Great Movie Adventure, Fantasmic is excellent, Star Wars fireworks (even if they're not Star Wars fans, if they like fireworks these are rumored to be spectacular), Sci-Fi restaurant or 50s Prime Time Cafe, meet and greets with Mickey, Buzz, Woody, Olaf, Disney Jr. characters, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Pluto. All good reasons to go :) And that's of course excluding any Star Wars stuff, that even if they're not "huge" fans, they may still very well enjoy. Our children weren't big Star Wars fans either - until we went to HS. Now they're obsessed, lol.

We're not thrill seekers either. HS was one of our favorite parks, we easily would have spent two days there. It's a different pace than MK, more relaxing because it's more shows/entertainment than rushing from ride to ride.

I can't do most of the big thrill rides because of severe motion sickness. So when we go to HS I skip RnR, ToT, and Star Tours. My kids like Star Wars, but we don't spend a ton of time with that stuff. In February my DS wanted to meet Chewie and we did the Disney Visa pic with Kylo Ren. Still had plenty to do for a full day and didn't even get to everything.

Fantasmic is our favorite of the evening shows and the Star Wars fireworks were awesome. I think they are changing them to a different firework show but both of these evening shows would be do not miss attractions for us.

Plenty to do if you are not thrill seekers .. but a lot of it involves shows. So if they aren't big "show" people or Star Wars fans, then ya .. probably worth a skip.

My children don't like Star Wars or thrill rides, and we have not yet made it to DHS. We went (to WDW) at age 4 and age 7 without doing DHS, and are going back this summer at age 10 (no DHS day planned). The trip when they were 7, I had planned a DHS day, but they begged to do EP again instead.
I couldn't get them to go on Buzz Lightyear at MK that trip, so I didn't have much hope of getting them on TSMM. Most of the other rides didn't appeal to them and they didn't care for most of the characters there.

I would like to see Fantasmic and mine would probably like the Frozen singalong, but not much else appeals to us. Shrug. I have read all the descriptions and even watched youtube videos of things. I am sure we could fill a day there, but I haven't felt like we are missing anything that would appeal *to us*.

Right now I think I would skip DHS and spend another day at either MK or Epcot. Probably MK. DHS will get better but there's not as much there right now. You could fill most of a day but just not sure I'd recommend that over another day at MK.

Hollywood Studios is the best park for character meet and greets.

Several shows that are entertaining.

The stuff that has been shuttered represents a very small portion of what makes HS appealing.

You can FastPass Toy Story, so don't let the wait time quoted in this thread scare you.

Yes, you can easily fill a day at HS without hitting thrill rides.

i would definitely go ahead and go. See the pixar parade, have lunch at the sci-fi theater, do toy story mania, great movie ride. you didn't indicate if your children are girls. But if you have a daughter, see the Frozen sing along play, see beauty and the Beast, see The little mermaid play. And a must see------ Fastmastic, do not miss this!! right afterwards is the Star Wars fireworks, but even if you not star wars fan, the fireworks are AMAZING!!!
