Hi guys another question, this time about gadgets.
What do you do regarding the storage or downloading of your digital photos in the evening on holiday? Last time we went we took a netbook so could download and copy the pics so if anything happened to the sd card we had back up. We no longer have a net book as have changed to iPads. Is there anything you can recommend or should we try and borrow a friends netbook?min know you can but sd cards which hold a large capacity but would also like some form of back up.
This is usually my husbands department but thought I would pick your brains and help organise him as have just about finished micro managing the holiday:rotfl:

I use a laptop and take a portable hard drive to double back up. I don't know what I'd do without a netbook or laptop. I also don't delete the images on my SD cards until I get home so I guess effectively my images are triple backed up :rotfl:

There was a thread on this a couple of months back and someone did post a solution for circumstances like yours but for the life of me I can't remember where it was posted. I seem to think it was the photography forum (?)

Just buy an SD card reader for your iPad? :confused3 It will then automatically upload your photos to the iCloud so no need for backup. You can get them for well under a fiver.

Yes this works just fine and is what we do.

Thanks 2tiggies I've had a quick look and think that the best option will be to borrow a netbook due to the vast amount of photos usually taken!:)

Thanks Kath but my husband takes so many photos he doesn't seem to think this will give him enough storage capacity :confused3 not my department but thought I'd try and help him!:)

I bought an SD card reader from Apple last weekend. It just plugs into my iPad and copies the photos from the SD card onto my iPad. There is as much storage as you've got on the iPad. It cost about £25.

You can pay for more storage on icloud I just paid £14 for a year for an extra 10 gb, whatever that is! 20gb is £28 and 50gb is £70 both annually.

I must look into this sd reader, didn't realise what it was for until reading this thread.

If you've got a Gmail account, you also have 15Gb of online storage free, so you can upload direct from ipad using the Google Drive app

:goodvibes

I've been looking at sd readers for our ipad but thought we wouldn't have enough space on it for loads of pics - can you bypass the save to ipad and send them straight to icloud? If not we'll have to take the laptop as the kids have loads of stuff saved on the ipad.

;)
