Just called for ADR's and found out that they are charging the Holiday Pricing in early December! H&V is $30.99 and Boma is $32.99! :confused3

I think WDW is trying to force me into the DDP instead of the DDE

WTH? I am going to have to dump my buffet meals now? There is no way in Hades that I am paying those darn greedy upcharges! Can anyone confirm that the dates have been extended into the earlier dates in December?

I made ressies for our trip 12/6-12 and CM never mentioned holiday pricing to me except for the Candlelight Processional which I knew about.

I am also booked 12/4 to 12/11 - was never told by a CM on the phone about the prices when I made my reservations. Hmmm....

The upcharges were announced to have begun on the 16th, so when I made our itinerary, I made sure that all of the buffet meals were before that date. If this is true, I am not going to be a happy camper.

I forgot where I read it (IT WAS AN OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT), but the upcharge starts Dec 16, so any meals I have to pay OOP will be before Dec 16th and I will use my DDE and I will use my DDP after that.

This is what we have so far for Holiday pricing

If they continue to expand the 'hoiday' pricing, it is a good reason to go to non-buffets and (I can't believe I am saying this) explore some off property dining options

If it has expanded, OMG, you have no idea just how much this messes up my plans. I have worked like crazy to build the best possible plan with the best possible experiences that my MIL wants. She is already grouchy about the costs of the three buffet meals. I can't imagine that more upcharges are going to go over very well with her.

Another reason why we love the DDP-No worries about cost or looking at prices on the menu.

But we will be there Dec 3-10,before the price change anyway.

No one mentioned it to me either......I seem to recall seeing the dates online, and they were not that early...can someone confirm the change?

It is entirely possible that they changed the dates to earlier in Dec. I heard thru my friend in disney dining about this months ago, and posted it in one of the holiday surcharge threads( can't find it now because there are a billion of these).Stinks entirely, but no shocker.

Absolutely am NOT defending Disney's action, if it's true - but think about it. If they can consider every day between Memorial Day and July what, 5? "holiday surchargeable", it's not a surprise that they would ultimately choose to designate all of December, or even starting from Thanksgiving and going straight through to January 1 to be at Holiday Pricing for buffets.

I have to say that if I booked my ADRs for my trip in early Dec, and I booked them based on a certain price, then I would be more than a little miffed to find them increased in price now. Thank heaven we don't have any buffets booked. They are getting out of hand pricewise. Doing much fewer of them as a family now.

I'm not seeing anything on the WDW website with a date in early December.....I see Nov 22-29 and then nothing else before December 16....nor is that early of a date listed on WDWinfo or allears or any of the other places that while not "official" seem to have the facts straight.

I have been calling and making ADRs for the past week....spoken to 4 different CMs making reservations during the first two weeks of December, including Boma, 1900, Cap May, Ohana and two at Tusker (breakfast and dinner)......not one of them mentioned that this was the holiday pricing.

And while I don't want to offend, let's note that the OP has 4 posts.

I'll not start cancelling my buffets until I see official notice or at least notice from one of the reliable sources. I find it hard to imagine that Disney would announce one set of holiday dates and then less than a month later change those dates. Yes, I realize they can change whatever they want, whenever they want. But....when/if official words comes out that those two weeks of December are now holiday gouging....take note that there will be openings for the above restaurants....as we'll be eating off site instead.

Ok, this freaked me out as I carefully planned my ADRs to avoid the affected restaurants during the November holiday surcharge period, so I called Disney Dining. Spoke with CM Barbara in Dining......according to her computer the dates for holiday dining surcharges in Nov/December are Nov 22-29 and December 16 to January 3. She shows nothing else before the end of the year (the summer holiday charges have ended, and the next block she had was April something).

I told her that a "friend" had just told me that they were making reservations for December 1st to 14th and were told they'd be under the holiday surcharge.

She apologized, and requested that I have my "friend" call back to verify that the CM had made the reservations for the correct days. She said that the holiday surcharge notice comes up on as one of the instructions they have to provide (other examples she gave me of instructions are the "ticket to the park required" and the "non-smoking restaurant" and "characters are not guaranteed"), so the only reason that a CM would have told my "friend" this was because it was booked on an incorrect date. She again apologized and said that this type of error does happen and would I please encourage my "friend" to call in and check on it.

I had her verify ALL my ADRs during the first two weeks of December and the holiday surcharge did not come up on ANY of them. These are the places I have ADRs that don't come up with a holiday surcharge (I know some of them aren't on the holiday surcharge list of participating restaurants, but I wanted her to check ALL of them to be sure I'd have no surprises):

December 1: Biergarten
December 2: 1900 Park Fare dinner
December 3: 50's lunch and Sci Fi dinner
December 4: Garden Grill dinner
December 5: Tusker breakfast
December 6: GF tea
December 7: O'Hanas dinner
December 8: Boma breakfast
December 9: Cinderella's Royal Table breakfast
December 10: Cape May/Goofy breakfast
December 11: Marrakesh lunch, Coral Reef dinner
December 12: 1900 Park Fare breakfast
December 13: Liberty Tree character dinner

So....as requested, I encourage wdwquilt to call and verify that their dates are correct.

No offense taken. Now, I will have six posts. :)
I have been a member for years, but rarely post. I will go into more detail about the information that started this post. I had made a reservation for Boma for Dec. 5th. Prices were not discussed. I called several days later to make a reservation for H&V December 8th. Because this was for Fantasmic, they needed my credit card and told me it was $30.99 per adult. I said that the last price I had seen was $24.99. They explained that the prices were increasing by $2, I think is September, and that the additional $4 was holiday pricing. I cancelled this reservation and, only after I hung up, thought to call about Boma to see if this was the case there also. A separate person told me the same thing - the extra $2 with the $4 hoiday pricing on top, bringing it from the $26.99 I was counting on to the new $32.99.
It is a simple matter for any of you with reservations to call the ADR number to verify the costs. They told me that they were able to answer these questions. I hope some of you can verify the accuracy of my information. Believe me - I would love to be wrong! I expect we will see some increases in CS as well!
In the meantime, I will try to post more. ;)

I followed the advice of disneyin2008 and called again. This time I asked to verify my Boma reservation. First, I will say that I did not make up the information on the initial thread! I swear! :sad2:
When I checked this time, the CM initially told me it was subject to "Seasonal pricing", then corrected it to say, "Oh no, the reservation is prior to the 16th" and verified the cost at $28.99.
Yesterday, I checked two separate reservations with two separate CM's and BOTH gave me the seasonal pricing. Based on this information, I even cancelled my hard-to-get H&V Fantasmic reservation.:sad1:
I am so sorry to carry bad information to these boards, but you are my best source and I am grateful to be corrected. I plan pretty much my whole vacation based on the information I get here and I was very surprised not to already see information on the Holiday pricing for early December - now I know why!
