We have a cabin waitlisted for December and were hoping to rent a golf cart and drive around to see the holiday light displays around the campground. Is the decorating still a thing (it has been years since I saw it last) and is it worth a leisurely evening of time? We were hoping to go see campfire and movie and then do a trip around for some holiday fun.

I don't know, but we plan to spend some time checking out decorations too.

About 10 years ago, someone had a mini osbourne lights display. By mini I mean a few thousand lights, not a few hundred thousand. Lights flashing in time to music, it was amazing. Never saw it again.

Not sure about the holiday lights, but I would say yes the campers are still decorating. When we were there in early September a lot of campsites had all their Halloween decorations out.

Holiday decorations are definitely still a thing, and well worth checking out. There are campers who return year after year, manage to get the same campsites, and decorate extensively. This goes for both Halloween and Christmas.

I got my waitlist!! And am starting to plan. This will be my first stay at Ft Wilderness so I am clueless-is there a certain loop that focuses on the decorating or do we just drive around in circles until weve seen it all?

It's fairly random on the loop - it's usually the big RVs that come regularly that decorate the most elaborately - though sometimes there are a few tent camps that go pretty good too. It's definitely still a thing - I toured through last December to see some of the great displays.

Loops 400-700 and 1100-1300 are Premium, so often have people staying frequently or longer and have the larger sites for big rig RVs - same for 600, 800, 900, 1000, 1400 which are the Premium Meadow loops.
