Has anyone ever stayed at either of the Holiday Inn's in Lake Buena Vista?

Holiday Inn Downtown Disney Area...
I know this hotel just went through a renovation. How are the rooms? How is the hotel in general? Do they offer Transportation?

Holiday Inn Sun Spree Resort
This resort looks awesome! How close to Disney is it really? Is it far enough removed that we'll feel out of it? Do they provide transportation to the Disney parks?

Help!!

I don't know where this Downtown Disney one is?? Unless it's the one that's closed. (Renovation would be an understatement, drove by it yesterday. There's no LOBBY LOL!)

SunSprees are generally fairly nice. I have driven by this one and it looks fine from the outside.

The Sunspree is off of Hwy 535, right by I-4. Its about 2 minutes to Downtown Disney!! There are lots of restaurants in that area too. My sister & her family have stayed there twice and said it was nice.

The Downtown Disney one is in the cluster of hotels right by Downtown Disney shops, etc. Not too familiar with that one though.

Have a great trip!

I stayed there several years ago and liked it. It looks like it's been renovated since then (I've driven by it several times in the last couple of years).

ETA: I don't think the one in Downtown Disney is open yet.

Not sure what the address is but we stayed at the HI Family Suites in 2000and is was very, very nice, it had the free Breakfast buffet...Rooms were large, clean, the kids LOVED the pool....Had an hourly bus traveling to/from WDW, If it wasnt for the 4/3 deal Disney is having now I would NOT hesitate in staying there again....

I know that it's close to DTD but you'd have to catch every traffic light - and be going an excessive amount of speed - to drive from that hotel to DTD in two minutes. It's about 2 1/2 to 3 miles with at least four traffic lights along that very busy route.

Now the Hotel Plaza Boulevard Holiday Inn near Downtown Disney might be about two minutes from DTD but, as Carol mentioned, it's not open. That hotel was gutted months ago after hurricane damage a few years ago and a stalled re-building project. The hotel is supposedly scheduled for re-opening in late 2009.

To the OP: Your message at least suggests that you won't have a vehicle for this trip. While the hotel has a restaurant or two on site and there are several chain restaurants in the general area that are walkable, SR 535 is a very busy, multi-lane road and you may not find that terribly enjoyable. I would not suggest walking, if that's what you were thinking, from the Sun Spree to Downtown Disney - there are sidewalk all the way but it's a long walk and you cross both an entrance and exit ramp for I-4, and lots of traffic.

I stayed at the DTD Hilton next door to the Holiday Inn, and I thought the place looked more like it was being demolished than being renovated. I wouldn't count on it being reopened anytime soon.

The DTD hotel buses will get you to the parks, but they won't get you there in a hurry, since they tend to make multiple stops along the way (for example, the "A" bus from the Hilton stopped at 2 other hotels before going to either MK/AK or Epcor/DHS. This also meant that there were frequently extra stops on the way back to the hotel. On the plus side, from the Hilton you can just cross the street to get to DTD Marketplace and the Disney buses (although for those you would need to go to a hotel and transfer to get to the park.)
