Holiday Decorations at the Resorts

We typically arrive the Sat AFTER Thanksgiving, but this year we will be in WDW 11/15-11/22. Obviously the MK will have decorations up for MVMCP and I know the other parks will follow suit over the course of the week we're there most likely prepping for post Thanksgiving. I'm wondering about the resorts. I remember seeing a video of the tree at the GF going up mid Novemberish. We're staying at the Poly and I imagine the tree may arrive during our visit as well. Was anyone in WDW the week before Thanksgiving last year? Could you provide some insight to what we can expect Christmas decoration wise? Thanks!

It's a lottery beginning I believe the Saturday before thanksgiving, one deluxe each night, someone please correct me if that's wrong. So it will just be hit or miss on which resorts will be decorated while you are there. Good news, at least a couple will be decorated before you leave.

When we stayed at GF last Thanksgiving week the gingerbread house was up during that time but the rest of the Christmas decorations went up on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving day.

We were there this past Thanksgiving from the Fri before to the Sun after. When we had breakfast at WCC the Monday before the WL did not have the tree up and we did not have an opportunity to return.

I stayed at the Poly last Christmas, and trust me... they do decorate the resort in a beautiful fashion. You'll love the Poly at Christmas. Plus, the GF is just a stroll away.

Thanks! Yes we've stayed at both the poly and gf many time during the holidays. This is our first "just before Tnanksgiving" trip. Can't wait!

CynBeth...the tree went up that Monday night if I'm not mistaken...maybe Tuesday. We were at the WL from thru 19-25th and got to witness the tree going up ...an extra special treat for this Christmas NUT.

lancgirl...the lottery system, I believe, is correct. Last year the WL was the last resort to be decorated. We'd already visited the AKL, BWI, YBC, AKL, the Poly, CR and the GF before "our" tree was decorated. It's the "luck of the draw"; we got very lucky getting the chance to see the "magic" work.

Yes, the Deluxes are all in a lottery to determine the order in which they are decorated. The date the lottery is held and the results are only known by WDW insiders. Because of this lottery, past dates that decorations went up are not a good gauge for any upcoming years as they are different every year.

The only thing you CAN count on is that they will all be completed by the Saturday of Thanksgiving Weekend.

I love the WL decorations.
We are staying at the Poly next Christmas (2017) And I am hoping that it will be lovely too.
