I've just received a trip to Disney for Christmas and we're definitely on a tight budget travelling with No kids. Just big kids-us! The Holiday Inn Nikki Bird Maingate is offering a wonderful price with the airfare, etc. that's hard to pass up with all the sites and offers I've found.

Can anyone give me pro's or con's on this particular resort?

Thanks in advance for your help!

The proximity to Disney is very close. It is located on the western end of 192. It is an older hotel, actually think motel and you'll be more on the mark. It is getting shabby, but not so bad as some of the low budget places. It has an Angel's Seafood Buffet attached. I found the buffet to be pretty bad and would not recommend eating there.

There are many places to have your meals within a mile or so. There are a couple of Publix supermarkets and other shops quite nearby also.

If the price is really good, you should be ok. Have fun!

There are different sections to this hotel.....some are more run down than the others.... I would ask for a room in the bldg that is at the top of the hill (west bldg)... I think that one is in better shape than the others....... I stayed there thru Priceline just this past Oct. I paid only $30 something per night.....

Friends of mine were scheduled to stay there. Immediately upon their arrival (befere even seeing the rooms, etc), they called their travel agent and asked to be moved to another hotel. They were willing to "eat" the entire cost and pay whatever it would take to move. Even the taxi driver was skeptical about them staying there. Everything is a matter of taste, of course.

I thought it was great and would go back again. I was in Orlando on business and stayed at the far more expensive Holiday Inn Sunspree and preferred the Nikki Bird. Great pools and hot tubs and we love the buffet. The diner and breakfast aren't great. It is older, but has been recently renovated.

A friend just stayed there earlier this week. She said the restaurant was awful but the rooms were okay - nothing fancy, clean, pretty much what they expected them to be for the price they paid. The one complaint that she had was regarding the bus service to WDW. It was crowded, slow and they ended up paying $15 a day for taxi service instead.
