Holiday bonus question

What do you think a normal holiday bonus would be for an office worker making between $10 & $12

I honestly didn't know people got holiday bonuses. I haven't worked in 15 years, but I never, ever got one, nor has DH, even when we were young and making less. He does get a yearly bonus based on performance, not salary.

DD's DH gets a substantial one every year and it's based on his performance.. Since he's the sole project estimator for this company, the more bids they win based on his estimates, the bigger the bonus.. It's the bosses way of saying, "Thank you.."

When I worked for an admin company (1995-2002) the holiday bonus was one month's pay deposited in our 401K (made $10-$16/hr).

When I worked for a medium sized commercial roofing company, it was $50 (was making $10-$16/hr there).

Now that I'm working for a global company that sells cement & minerals processing equip (currently make around $16): 2006 = a very nice jacket with the company logo; 2007 = a ham; 2008 = $25 VISA card; 2009 = I'm not expecting anything but the "promise" of keeping my job throughout 2010!

I work for a government contractor - we used to get a christmas bonus every year - a pretty sizable one at that.
This will be the first year we haven't gotten one...

In the job I had previously, we did get a Christmas bonus. I was in sales, so your bonus was an additional percentage of your total paid sales for that year (on top of what you would have also made in commission from those sales).

In the company I work for now, there is no Christmas bonus.

I am an office worker making between 10-12 and how our small company does the holiday bonus is ...

1% for each year of service based on the last 12 months gross

Don't know how most places do, but this is what my boss came up with.

We only have 4 employees.

For me it has veried:

A local botteling co for Coke - Once you had been there for a full year, it was a full weeks pay. If you were hired in that year - nothing.

Corporate office of a Major trucking Company - From the company - nothing. From area's manager and supervisors, they bought us each a small, under $20.00, gift - outta their own pockets.

Corporate office for a major gardening supply company - (this was back in 1989/90) We got a cash bonus and a ham.

Small attornies office - small cash bonus.

Small family owned auto remanufacturing co - a cash bonus. The girls in the office, each got a small gift from each of the 2 owners wifes.

Small regional trucking co - a cash bouns and a booklet of car washes from a locally owned company we do business with.

Depends on what you mean by bonus and what her job is.

I've heard of bonuses being as simply as a free turkey up to a paycheck or beyond a paycheck.

DBF's CO gives it based on years at the company anywhere between $200 - $600

He has been there 14 years gets $400.

At our company, that would get a bonus of $1000-$1500, depending on length of service.

When I worked as a church secretary, about 13-14 years ago I was making $6/hour but only worked 3-4 mornings per week, from 9 - noon.

At Christmas I received a $50 bonus.

When I worked about 5-7 years ago for a doctors office, I was making $13.00/hour and we got the equivilant of 1 weeks pay (minus taxes) as a bonus, so about $350.00.
That was so nice back then. Now my bonus for being a SAHM is lots of hugs and kisses and clean up duty.

Our employees are not getting bonuses for year end. They did get bonuses at the annual reviews last summer. In previous years, we have given $500 to $2,000 at the holidays. Given the state of the economy, our employees know they are lucky to have jobs at this time.

Different places have different ways of figuring them. My sweetie works for a company that deals with Toyota. Since the economic downturn, he will not get a bonus this year. However in years past it was based on how long you had been there. When he first started working there he had only been there a few months before Christmas. He still got over $200. The next year it was much more. This year nothing.

Now my company goes by years you have been here too. However you only get a $25 increase for every year you have been here. So since I've been here 7 years, I will get $175. Salary employees get more I believe. Our bonues have always just been extra money in the bank. We dont usually do anything special with them.

I make $12.50/hr and we get a $25 Wal-Mart gift card every year.

I work full time in a construction office as a receptionist making a little over $12.00 an hour. I got a $250 bonus.

THIS year, probably nothing at all. I think people are just happy to have a job & a paycheck.
