Holding tank question

If you have points in your holding tank that are going to expire at a particular time because you've had to cancel at last minute, can those points only be rented out but not transferred over to somebody else?

If you have points in your holding tank that are going to expire at a particular time because you've had to cancel at last minute, can those points only be rented out but not transferred over to somebody else?

I have read on these boards (not personal experience) that holding points that are not from banked or borrowed points may be transferred but they will remain in holding in the new owners account.
