Holding Points Released from Holding!

Maybe this has already been mentioned, I’m sorry if it’s a repeat. I was just chatting with member services to change a name on a reservation. When we were done that the cast member said “I see you have 52 holding points. We are releasing those now. Let me put you on hold and have my manager release those points from holding for you.”
I didn’t ask for this she just brought it up herself, and now I have 52 points to use!!! She did need to “check on why they were in holding” but apparently a late cancelled reservation was on the ok list.

Just thought I would share in case others are in a similar situation. The points were in holding from a reservation we cancelled last minute back in August.

Wow, so you got the impression that returning holding points is a routine thing now? That's very nice. A major surprise as well. Need some more reports to confirm it!

Yeah, it was weird. The cast member brought it up. Since I had written these points off as lost, I was thrilled! Incase details end up mattering for which points in holding can be set free, I believe these were banked 2020 points used for an August 2021 reservation that we cancelled about a week out.

So, just the holding aspect, correct? These are still banked points, correct?

Yes just the holding issue was released. So instead of being restricted to a sixty day booking window, I could use them freely before they expire July 31 2022. So I just booked 4th of July weekend.

That is great. Maybe they release that right now there is a need to be flexible.

Are you still required to use by the end of your use year or were you able to bank the? I'm hoping to use mine in May (AugUY) but incase that can't happen.

I was talking with member services and mentioned how I was nervous to make a decision about our March trip by the 30 day deadline. Coming from Canada things are up in the air, but they are getting better . Anyway she said she could see I was an international owner and not to worry, if I canceled less than 30 days the points would be removed from holding. I was so extremely grateful as it gives us time to wait out our decision.
