~ HoJo's ~ UPDATE ~ WE JUST RETURNED!!! Please read post 88!!!!!

Okay, I have never stayed at HoJos, but have read for years about people here on DIS praising it like it's the Heaven of Motels.

Here's what I don't understand if they are so fantastic: If this rate and availability is shown on their website, why does it matter if the original poster is talking to a national call center or to Lorelei? Shouldn't HoJo's honor what is advertised on their web site?

I would be livid if I was having the OPs experience - and probably take my business elsewhere. Can someone who is a HoJo expert explain this to me, please. Thanks!

- Dreams

Dreams, I'm one of those that has sung the praises of HoJo's in the past. But there is no explanation. It appears to this biased observer that HoJo's has been tripping over their own toes recently, and it's a shame to see. What others have said on the thread about their cancellation policy change is not that we won't stay at HoJo's ever again, but that they've lost our loyalty. It's no longer automatic. I agree with this, and in the future, I'll do a more diligent job checking for alternatives before automatically booking HoJo's.

I agree with you that the OP should be livid about this. I hope and expect that, if she gets hold of the on-site staff at HoJo's on Monday, they'll fix this for her (give her the ET rate).

In any case, though, I'm saddened to see the recent customer service lapses at this establishment. I sincerely hope they get their act together again soon.

I would do this. Not only should they honor it. They have to. Truth in Advertising will stand up in court if not.

So if the manager doesn't make it right. Call the BBB next. Then Hojo corportate. Then if you want to persue it further and attorney that would like to get money out of the Hojo.

**Please note that these rates are subject to availability and may open or close without notice. Please call 714-776-6120 and ask for In-House Reservations for up-to-the-minute AP Rate availability information.**

If the number of rooms available for the discount is full, that doesn't mean they were never available for that date - just means they're full now.

So on THEIR message boards it states to call directly to HoJo's and lists their Anaheim # and to ask for in-house reservations. I get a rep named Jessica. I asked for availability on Sunday, Mar 6th and I would like a standard king room. Jessica informs me that they have plenty of availability. I said AWESOME. I then tell her that I am an AP holder and would like the $59.00 rate and that I have read over the cancellation rules and have no issue with their policies on that rate.

Ok hold on ...

Jessica: "Oh, sorry, we do NOT have that rate available" …
Me: I just read it on the DIS and on YOUR message boards" …
Jessica: "we just changed them THIS morning" …
Me: "THIS morning, right now when I called" …
Jessica: "yes" …

Why do places do crap like that …. :headache:

Fine, Jessica, I will just call the Candy Cane Inn. :thumbsup2

I've had the exact same thing happen - called to book a room at the rate that is posted as available (updated that a.m.) and no rooms at that rate available. Sucks.

If you called over the weekend, you were transferred to the Corporate reservation system, who will tell you that they are in-house, even though they are not. You obviously did not deal with in-house reservations. You need to call back during regular business hours Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, make CERTAIN you are speaking with in-house reservations at the hotel in Anaheim and you will get a different answer, guaranteed! :wizard:

If she called on Saturday, in-house reservations are there. There is a Jessica who works in house. How can you guarantee she'd get a different answer? This has happened in the past - to me personally and to others as well - I'm not surprised.

You can actually get the AP/ET rates even on-line or through the call center if you use the code AND the dates are still available at that discount rate (I think it's LKAP and LKEP).

Truthfully, it's not my favorite place to stay. I have stayed there before, based on the price and the flexibility if changes needed to happen, but I'm certainly not a die-hard, Hojo can do no wrong, never consider anywhere else fan :confused3

Theresa, in the original post, the OP did not mention that she called on Saturday. I guess I wrongfully assumed that she called today since she posted today.

NEVERMIND. :rolleyes1

Good luck to the OP on getting the ent rate. I still think you should call back on Monday and see if they will honor the ent. rate since it was listed on the website (and yes, I've read the disclaimer, but nothing ventured, nothing gained, and the HoJo is known for it's excellent customer service).

call tomorrow an try if they mess you around tell us. Im going an still going to try the kids suit but a few things smell fishy at hojos now an it wont be the first place we think of next time in less they change a few things. an before our next visit they could change for better. Hopeing not for the worse. I hope hojos can gain favor again

Dear Momrek06:

I'm sorry you're experience such frustration with making an ET reservation! You likely did speak with our in-house Reservations Specialist, Jessica, when you were inquiring about our rates. We often receive our new rates on Fridays for input on Saturday morning. Once the new rates are entered into our system they become our current rates and availability. As Longtimedisneylurker mentioned, we do have a notice on our ET/AP pages that states that the availability of these Retro Discount dates may change without notice because I generally update the boards pages during the week.

As Queenbillabong stated, this timing issue does pop up sometimes, so I'll train our Reservations staff to update the board pages prior to entering our new rates. Please email me at stay@hojoanaheim.com; I'm sure we can provide a solution to make you happy!:)

As the General Manger and a 20-year HoJo Team Member, I can assure you that we have not changed in our dedication to exceptional service!

Jonathan

Jonathan's reply is exactly the reason why we are so loyal to Hojo's. We would never stay anywhere else.

No offense Skiingfast, but as a lawyer, I can tell you these are murky waters and the law of the land is a complex mistress :)

Ditto. I'm sure we have all had the experience where something is marked a certain price on the shelf but when we get to checkout it turns out to be more. MOST stores will honor the shelf price but I don't believe they are legally obligated to do so. As a lawyer myself, I certainly wouldn't take a case against Hojo--especially with the disclaimer on their website.

I don't think any of those will have an effect on vacancy rates (or lack thereof)--the dentists will be staying at DLH (probably at great rates) and the other two are mostly events for locals.

Hi Everybody, it's me, the OP!

First off, many thanks for everyone who came on and posted! I really appreciated hearing from everyone! :thumbsup2

As far as being livid, yup BUT more upset that I spent allot of time reading all about HoJo's on so many different threads on here as well as going on HoJo's Discussion Boards and reading over there! I knew when I called Saturday morning just what to ask for as I had done my "homework". ::yes::

As far as suing HoJo's, naa, I would not go that route.

So, I would like to also thank Jonathan from HoJo's who stopped by my thread and has asked me to email him! :thumbsup2 Look for my email, Jonathan! :thumbsup2.

To all my my DL DISer's, I will update you all when I hear back from Jonathan! :goodvibes

Wow..never stayed at HoJo at DLR but after seeing that level of care on a BB I sure would stay there if I need to stay offsite.. Great Customer Service! :thumbsup2

I've stayed at HoJo many many times. It IS the heaven of off-site hotels in the area!! :thumbsup2 The AP/Ent Rates are NOT available at ANY HoJo except the one on Harbor in Anaheim, across the street from the DLR. As a result the ONLY special rates that the central reservation people can see is the standard Ent Rate that is offered at every HoJo, for the retro rate you have to call the Anaheim HoJo In House Reservations specifically. The website is not a central site, it's specific to the Anaheim location.

And THIS right here is why we will always stay at the HoJo whenever possible!!!! STELLAR customer service, great prices, room and location! There were 2 or 3 times I called and the rate wasn't there anymore but the reservationist I spoke with was always able to come thru with a great solution, any complaints I've had at the HoJo were not due to the staff, rooms or rates, rather due to inconsiderate guests, which is not the fault of the hotel.

I would not hesitate to stay at the HoJo, with the new restrictions on the Ent Rate or otherwise! IMO the HoJo is one of the few hotels that truly understands the meaning of guest service!! :)

You can actually book online with both the AP and ET rates with the codes lnap or lnep (I had said lkap and ep before, but it's ln). If there are rooms available on those dates for the special rates, it works just fine.

Okay all my DL DISer's, I have an UPDATE! I emailed Jonathan late last night as he requested! I was out all morning and just got in and in the meantime Jessica had emailed me (this a.m.) from HoJo's!

Jessica asked me to call her! I just did and she was AWESOME! She offered me a KING room in Building 2 with a VIEW all for the $59.00 rate!

I am so excited! Yeah! So HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!! :cake:

So HoJo's has turned my frown upside down!!! :goodvibes
