Hojo??

All this Hojo info should be in a sticky! :)

You'll hear a lot of positive comments about HoJo on these boards. Couple of reasons:

1. The entertainment book rate. They have a special where, with the Ent book card, you can get a standard room for $59 a night, and a deluxe room for $74 a night. (recently renovated, new mattresses, balcony, Disney view, microwave and fridge in room). The Entertainment rate is currently showing as available on these dates:
http://www.hojoanaheim.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14 . Be advised that even if your dates aren't on there, frequently more dates are added last minute. For example, there were no dates in July, then about a dozen showed up on July 1st. Looks like a lot of them have already been snapped up. You do NOT need to have the book on hand when you book your stay. You just have to have it by the time you get there and check in; they will need your card. If your stay is after November 1, you will need the new 2009 book. You can get the book for your own area, doesn't have to be the Anaheim one; you just need the card. You can get a book for most places for $25. So consider: buy an Ent book and use it to book a standard room for $59 a night for 4 nights. That's a savings of $40-$60 PER NIGHT, when compared to what you'd pay for one of the hotels at the crosswalk, and at a nicer hotel. So you'd save $160-$240 just for buying a $25 book. I'd say that's worth it, even if you never use the book for anything else. When you call to book this rate, you must call the hotel itself and ask for IN HOUSE reservations (don't let them shuttle you to the national line; they won't know what you're talking about) and their in-house reservation people can help you with the Ent rate. Ask if Lorealle is available to talk to.

2. HoJo is the nicest hotel on the "strip" within close walking distance (it has inside corridors rather than the outside ones at the motels at the crosswalk) and it has a large "garden" pool, beautiful grounds, and a brand-new, pirate-themed, kids' water play area. If you click around on the above link, you can see pictures. It is well within easy walking distance. Granted it's not right AT the crosswalk; but the difference is a matter of 4 minutes' walk. Also, it's up at Manchester, so most people in the know cross Harbor at Manchester and walk down the quiet side of the street, away from the crowds, and enter at the taxi entrance. It saves you several minutes. Most people report a total walking time of 7 minutes from the HoJo parking lot to the turnstiles. This is closer than staying at one of the farther towers of the DLH or at Paradise Pier.

3. Lorealle. She's one of the managers at HoJo, and she's SO nice. If you have any questions, concerns, need help-- e-mail or call her at the hotel, she will behave toward you like an instant friend. She even joined the Ladies' Only DISboard group for dinner on their trip! Lorealle frequently posts here and answers questions on the DIS.

Hope that explains the DISboard HoJo obsession. ;)

OMG Gail!!!
Thank you SO much for the info!
And a big thanks to all you other "dis" friends for such great info!

So, let me run this by you :)
1) We live in Oregon... so I buy our local Ent. book right?

2) Then I call HOJO directly and book my stay. We are going Nov.20-25. The dates for the Ent. book price are only the 20, 23 & 24. So for the 21 & 22 I'm assuming we will get a higher rate, correct?

3) When we get to HOJOs I will need to present them with a card that I got from my local Ent. book?

and that's.... IT??:confused3

Don't purchase the book until you confirm your dates/rates. You don't need the ent. book when you make your ressies. Just ask for the rate. I would either call or email lorealle at the HoJo. Her email is lorealle.bishop@hojoanaheim.com Even if the ent. rate isn't available for all your dates, see if you can get the Dis discount for your other dates.

Then, once you've secured your ressies, you can order the book. Yes, you should order the book for the area you live in so you an take advantage of the other coupons and discounts in your local area. You will need to order the 2009 book since the 2008 book expires on November 1st this year.

You can order the book through entertainment.com -- or I believe mousesavers.com may have a link to get a discount on the book.

Then yes, you just present your ent. card at check in. :)

HTH!

AWESOME! Thanks!:flower3:
You guys are GREAT!
I just tried calling the hotel and ressies are closed:upsidedow So I'll try in the morning! :thumbsup2

I feel a little weird emailing Lorealle... you sure it's OK?

Yup, HoJo's will give you the ent rate for your available nights, and for the other nights they will give you at least the 15% off internet rate. Call Lorealle to figure out the best rate you can get. She's a treasure.

There's a discount code you can use when booking online, it's SD50, but it doesn't always work. It really works best to call them, ask for in house reservations, and let them help you figure out the best way to go. Just be sure it's in-house. I talked to the 1-800 line once and they claimed first that there was NO ent rate, then that there was one but I had to have the card number to book it, and that it wasn't available for my dates. All of which were incorrect.

And yes, the Ent book comes with the Ent card which is stuck inside the front cover.

Oh, yeah, your stay will be over the weekend, so if you get your tickets through GAT, you can use your Magic Mornings on Saturday and Sunday. Sweet!

At this time, one can still purchase for free the 2008 Entertainment Book, when pre-ordering the 2009 ET Book. :)

Lorealle is awesome. She will make you feel like an old friend from the start! Don't even hesitate to email her. She may take a day to get back to you, becuase her hours are a little different over the summer, but she'll answer and make sure you are taken care of.

YIKES!
Ok... just got off the phone with SW airlines and cancelled our flights to WDW. Now I just hope that all of our DisneyLAND plans fall into place!:yay:
Thanks for everyone's advise!

I'll have to change my ticker too! :)

I have ressies for HoJo in late October. Trying to figure out what kind of room we want to request. Can anyone share their recent experiences with their room/building number and how you liked it? I looked at the room layout map posted on their website but it doesn't specify which rooms are "park view" or where the freeway (noise) is in relation to the property.

TIA! :goodvibes

I would just phone the in house reservations at 714-776-6120 - they are great and you can talk to them right away, rather than waiting for e-mail. They are very helpful :thumbsup2

I'm at the HoJo's right now. We checked in yesterday and the front desk staff were great. I had called earlier in the day to change one of our rooms 11(I had booked 2 rooms) to a King and they said no problem. When we got here, they told us that I had booked two park view rooms and if I switched to a King, it would face the highway. They didn't want to switch it until I was told that... so we decided not to switch it. I appreciated their informaiton and thoughtfullness in that regard. Our front desk person, and I'm so sorry that I didn't write her name down, even checked online for a grocery store for me while we waited to see if our rooms were ready. How great is that???

The room is very clean and we love the fact that there is a fridge and microwave in it. The room is pretty big too.

We walked to DD last night and it took about 15 minutes... most of it waiting at the light to cross Harbour at the East Shuttle entrance. I kid you not on that one.. that light took forever to change.

So far we have no regrets nor any complaints. I've stayed at the Candy Cane, Fairfield and the Hilton... and I can safely say that I like this the best so far.

oh how grate have a grate time im glade you are having a good review so far
take lots of pics

We checked out today (we're in San Diego for the rest of the trip). I didn't take any photos of the hotel (whoops).

I took about 10 minutes to walk to the park in the morning. This time we crossed Harbor at Manchester. We did the Segway tour so we did this at 6:45 in the morning. Warning to those who are walking back to the Hojo's after the second showing of Fantasmic. If you intend to walk on Harbor and cross back to the Hojos at Manchester, be aware that the sprinklers along that stretch of Harbor turn on to water the grass... and you. My cousin jokingly said, "wouldn't it be funny if the sprinklers went off." And then they did!!!! hahahaha

OMG! that is too funny! maybe it was Karma? ;) anyway, it sounds like you had a very nice time, and that is wonderful! :) I hope that you will be able to visit again, and real soon. :) :flower3:

I have always stayed in a park view room. Those are located in building 1. I'm planning on staying there again in November.
