Oh wise DLR vets: We're planning a DLR trip for May and are pretty set on staying at Hojo. I thought I remembered reading some time ago on the DIS about the advantages/disadvantages of staying in certain buildings but now that we want to actually make our reservations i can't find it. Can anyone share insight on this? We are not really concerned about having a great view (or paying more for that) but would like to get a room with less highway noise if possible.

Also, I know of the Mousesavers discounts, but are there others out there? If I book with the Mousesavers discount and a better one becomes available closer to the time of our trip will we be able to get the better deal?

Building 2 is what Lorealle recommends, with a pool view. We ended up in 2 with a Disney view (for no extra charge) The entertainment book rate is the best rate--1/2 off rack rate if you can get it. HOJO has its own awesome message board and any questions asked will be answered. There's also trip reports and the entertainment rate schedule.

I agree with Jayne. Bldg. 2 is the best for no freeway noise, and they all have the new pillow-top beds and microwaves. Awesome rooms.

Besides the super awesome ent. rate, they are now offering the AP rate at 20%-25% off (depending on dates), and then the standard Fan site rates (Mousesavers, DisBoards, MiceChat, MousePlanet -- they're all the same). Yes, if a better rate becomes available, they will honor the best rate. :)

Thanks guys! I'll ask for building 2. Just what I wanted to know.

Where do I get access to the entertainment book?

And where is the Hojo discussion board?

THANK YOU!

You can buy an Entertainment Book from local school or church groups, usually, but sometimes even I don't see one being sold in the fall and I work in schools! Here's a link to the Entertainment Book website for the Wisconsin based book:

I love bldg. 2. We did have a room in bldg 2 that was very close to the freeway in July when we were there (very close to bldg. 5). You could see the freeway out the windows when you were walking down the hall - but there wasn't any freeway noise in the room. I think we were in almost the furthest room from the elevators when you turn left. (rm. 2202)

Thanks everyone! Especially 3Tinks! Those links are great. Now I think I get how the entertainment book thing works, and have begun exploring the Hojo boards and already found great info.

Also a big thanks to the person who posted the link to the great map of Hojo. Very helpful! :disrocks:

I'm getting soooo excited! And still over 9 months to go....

I'm going to vote for Building one, on one of the upper floors, Disney facing view. We got the wonderful Ent rate for our Premium room, $79 a night. We had the top floor (7th), and since I'd booked early and requested a room with a view that wasn't blocked by trees, they put us in 1713. It was fabulous! We had a straight shot of the Matterhorn. Our room had the skylights that make it so airy and light. I could hear the distant rumble of the freeway, but the room is very well insulated; we found it very quiet, and it didn't disturb us at all. In fact, I could hear my daughter breathing as she slept. Out on the balcony, of course, it's quite loud, but it's that way anywhere on the property. We had the Heavenly Bed pillowtop, two sinks (one inside the bathroom and one outside) and plenty of room.

We also liked Building one because in the mornings, we took the elevator down, turned left and went right out the side door of the building. We crossed Manchester right there and then walked down to the light at Harbor to cross and walk down the uncrowded west side of Harbor.

There's a picture and short video of the view from our room in my trip report, linked in my signature below. I think it's on page 5.

I would go ahead and book ASAP, because the earlier you book, the more they cater to your room requests if at all possible. You can even request specific rooms, although of course they can't guarantee it. They won't show the Entertainment rate yet, but even if it is not posted right at first when the May dates come out, they often add them at the last minute. If they show up, you can call and get your rate changed to the Ent rate.

You don't have to buy an Entertainment book, you can just get the card off E-bay for about $5. Or, send a PM to BallerinaMom on these boards-- she works for Entertainment, and often has extra cards she sends out for free to DISer's here.

Hope that helps!

I vote for #1 top floor premium Disney View. We never heard any freeway noise when the patio door was closed. It was spacious and the windows were great.

Hey that's where we were! Top floor I think. The view from our room is in my trip report. I loved our view but you had to strain to the right to see the fireworks. We just ran down to the parking lot that night. I was kind of p'd because we had just got back from our day off from the parks and was changing into my swimsuit to sit in the jacuzzi and watch them when they started darn it! I've heard watching them from the jacuzzi is wonderful.
