Professor Black: She studied the students as they entered her classroom. "Have a seat," she said. "I trust you all must be wondering, as we've had so many unfortunate events in the last few days."

Veronica: "That's an understatement," she muttered as she sat down.

Professor Black: She took a deep breath. "As your professors we've contemplated many different options and believe this to be the best one. I trust you know you aren't in the best situations, and we'd like to keep a few extra precautions in place." she studied Veronica for a moment. Often Melanie wondered if she'd been placed in the right house. Just because of a little ambition didn't seem like a worthy decision. She thought Veronica more of a Gryffindor than anything, and not because that was her house. "You four from now on will be escorted to your classes by a teacher; Jackson and Veronica with me and Gabrielle and Jane with Professor Claybourne. We would be more comfortable of you didn't wander around after dusk as well," she then said, studying Jackson. He looked like a Black. Pale skin and dark hair...Melanie was odd herself with ending up with the dark brown. Her father's had been black, and her mother's a light brown.

Veronica: Veronica frowned. No wandering? For her, not wandering was being a sitting duck. Maybe if she spent all of her time in the library, it wouldn't be so bad, but still, it wasn't exactly an effective hiding place. "Ma'am, I don't understand why I am included. I'm a pureblood Slytherin, and a Heir. Sure I'm not proud of my blood status, and I've asked the hat to resort me before, but surely those two qualities are stopping the Death Eaters from killing me."

"I merely meant that you received your looks from her side, though she did used to look better. Beautiful," she remembered, "dreadfully beautiful." Her family had the good looks, and Finch had received that. She had been a sort of evil-looking woman, though her beauty had made her look scarier. She remembered that well.
