Hockey Mom brag!

We moved in August and our ds8 plays hockey. Age-wise he should be in SuperTermites I think. But here they can try out for an A or B Squirt travel team and then if they don't make it they go back to 'Mites. Anyway we had him try out because the fall coach said he should and being from somewhere else we thought trying out would be good experience for when he is Squirt age. He made it through the last night of try outs but was cut and we were fine with that because of his age and all. Then a couple of nights later a coach from tryouts called and said he could be on a C team for Squirts that does in-house and no travelling!
So last night was his first game and he scored 2 goals!!!

Good for him! Hockey is a great sport.

I already owe him a trip to Coldstone Creamery!! When we moved to town I said that would be a good place to go for celebrations. As examples I mentioned the first time dd lands an axel and for him I mentioned his first Squirt goal. At the time I thought it was at least a year away!!

That is great news. Hockey is a fantastic sport for boys and girls.

I have a DS8, who's a Mite A Travel (Defenseman). Our team record is 20-2-1. We are having a fantastic year, so far.

My son has 20 points so far!

What position does your son play? Also,
where in MN are you? My DH and DS go to Heartland Hockey (Steve Jensen's Parent Child Hockey camp) every year, in Deerwood, MN. Are you near there?

Congratulations to your son! You have a right to be proud. Stand up and feel it! I know I do every Sunday evening when my 14yo son leads the team with his goals. Last weekend he had 7 goals. Last season he was high scorer, and maybe this season he will be too.

As parents we must brag (a little) about our kids and enjoy every event that gives them pleasure and makes them feel accomplished. I show respect toward my son and his feelings by admiring his good sportmanship on and off the playing field as well as his abilities in both baseball and hockey. Before you know it they will be grown and off to college. Believe me, they will remember all the times you stood proudly on the sidelines offering a kind word and an encouraging cheer.
