Hoarding credits...

Anyone else do this on the DDP? Last year, I was "hoarding" credits...not stopping for snacks in case something better came along later...or worrying that we would use all the snack credits in the first few days, and have none for later in the trip.

Needless to say, we had 8 snack credits still on our card when we left. :lmao: This year I plan to be less controlling of the card, and use the credits whenever someone feels the urge. If I have to pay OOP the last day or two, so be it. :thumbsup2

I am with you. That is my vow for this trip too ... leaving tomorrow - WOO HOO :cool1:  :Pinkbounc

I sometimes feel there is so much yummy stuff at WDW that I want to "save" my credits and get it all.

However, once I'm there, I realize there is only so much food the tummy can handle. So, all the more reasons to go back, right? :thumbsup2

My Dad always said I liked to "eat with my eyes" :rotfl:

First time using the plan last week. So we figured we would pay for water and soda bottles (we figured we would drinking so much) The last day we had 5 snack credits left. We got 3 rice krispy treats (to add to the others :rotfl2: ) and two drinks on the way out.

We did this too! Sharing snacks and CS the entire trip, only to walk out with like 12 mickey rice krispy treats, and like 6 salads for CS on the last day. We were traveling to South Florida to visit family.... so they liked their "souvineer mickey heads" and we enjoyed the salads on the drive. This year, get what you want, when you want, and worry about running out at the end (if it happens) is our thinking. popcorn::

Hi, my name is Heather and I am a credit hoard. Last year we ended up with 10 snack credits and 4 cs credits. Stopped at CR CS and got 10 mickey rice crisy treats and 4 lunch sandwiches with all the sides. We took them to the airport and eat before and during our flight. I threw a lot of the food (not rice crispy treats) out.

I did it last year too. On our way to the airport I stopped at the food court to buy lunch for the plane ride. I also bought for the couple behind us and took 8 Mickey Rice Krispy Treats with me - only because I couldn't fit more in the small bag I was carrying. Next time I'd use more CS for breakfast.

I just got back and it was the snack credits that i could not seem to use. We had 30 for 10 days and at checkout we still had 15. We bought suckers and cookies from everything pop. I did not intentionally hoard it was just so much food we did not need so many snacks and with refillable mugs did not need to buy water. All and all it was a good problem to have. :Pinkbounc

We did the same thing last year. We bought some drinks OOP thinking we would use the snacks later in the week when it got hotter. We ended up having several left over. It would make more sense to use the credits up first then pay OOP if you run out. Oh well, hind sights 20/20.

We were at WDW 8/14 to 8/17. We wound up using our CS credits for breakfast at Pop. We ate good in the AM, used our SC for drinks or snacks and used our TS for big dinners. We found that it was really too hot to eat 3 big meals a day. We ate dinner at Raglan Road, Crystal Palace, Teppanyaki and Prime Time. There was plenty of food. We had two CS credits left over, so we went to Earl of Sandwich and got two turkey sandwiches and two cookies for the airplane. Earl of Sandwich would only give us fountain drinks, no bottled drinks. We had fun, and did not feel restricted using the plan.
We shared 2 TS at Raglan and 2 TS at Prime Time. We used 3 TS at Crystal Palace. I used 2 TS at Teppanyaki, and ordered a child's shrimp for me (the light eater).

4 of us went for 8 nights. We did share a few CS meals because with the extreme heat, it's sometimes hard for the kids to finish an entire meal. We did the HDDR which was 2 TS each. We never paid for one meal OOP and had 4 or 5 snack credits left when we left. If we could've taken drinks to the airport we would've used them for that. Loved the "Freeeeee" DDP, but hated spending up to 2 hrs at times for the TS meals. Wish there was a plan where you could choose your credits, CS vs TS.

Didn't hoard them exactly but I did get mad at my husband for using snack credits on a cup of coffee and juice..LOL. It just seemed like such a waste..LOL. It was 3 of us on the dining plan for four days and we ended up with 6 snacks and one CS on our checkout day.

We hoard credits!

It drives me crazy to use a snack credit for bottled water, but we've done it once or twice! When we spend the mornings at the waterparks, we use our CS credits for lunch because they give you a toekn for your dessert, which you can use that day or save up for another visit. It entitles you to a frozen novelty, so it's like having a free snack credit.

For most TS meals, the three of us use 2 TS credits total. Unless my DBF is with us, we can't possibly eat an appetizer, entree and dessert each, so if the menu has one or two things we all like, we work it out like that.

In May we had to use up quite a few snack and CS credits on the way to the airport, so we got lunch at Earl of Sandwich and stocked up on their yummy homemade brownies with snack credits.

:sunny:

we plan on "hoarding" our snack credits until we hit the F&W Festival (the 4th day into our 5 day trip). I want to use the snack credits at the kiosks and eat our way around the WS. If we are still hungry after that, I plan on using a CS credit at the Tangierine Cafe. Hope this plan doesn't backfire on us, but in the past, there really haven't been many times when we've stopped for a snack in the parks (usually bring our own water bottles with us). I'm excited to have the food part of the festival essentially free and just be paying for the alcohol!

I was hoarding the first couple days--sharing CS when I wasn't very hungry, etc. We used our leftover credits to get "to go" meals for the airport. Guess that wouldn't work now with the new regulations!

...good idea....we wound up with 8 TS credits (used 6 up at Boma [for breakfast] on the morning we left), 4 CS credits and 10 snacks....needless to say, we piled up on the snacks for the ride home, including ZEBRA DOMES!!

I think we ended up with one counter credit and 4 snack credits. We were totally out of water so we got a bottle for each of us, plus one extra bottle with the counter credit. We got a big sandwich and chocolate cake to snack on on the way home.

We did hoard credits because we had one signiture meal so we had to go one day with two counters rather than a counter and a sit down to get through

It's a ton of food.

Glad I'm not the only one! :)

In exactly 25 hours, my plane will be landing at MCO!!!

Woo-Hoo!!!

8 Mickey Rice Krispy Treats with me

Oooooo. That sounds tempting. Am flying Southwest and LOVE rice crispy treats (as does my nephews). That may be a great souvie for them! :goodvibes

I am glad I read this. Having never done the DDP before I bet we would have been hoarder!!! Don't wanna waste :rotfl:

Woo hoo! Five more days!!!

We used most of ours for bottled water or danish, muffins, juice etc. which we had for breakfast. I am sure there were other items on the Snack list that would be more appealing than the bottled water but when its 100 degrees, it was mighty nice.

I definitely think it takes one time of being on the plan to get used to using it. I am looking forward to the next dining adventure. :thumbsup2
