Those of us who want to or have bought the "sold out" resorts from DVC are paying MORE than the current resorts (AKV and SSR)!

I was just thinking that pretty much all the time Disney has some sort of $ off points promo. The ACTUAL price right now is $94 or $96 per point and really no one is paying $104 for their points for AKV or SSR purchases.

However, if you add on at BCV, for example, you have to pay $101 no matter how many points you are adding on. Interesting, no? The older resorts are more expensive than the new, hot ones.

Just an observation.

BCV is the most and it is because it is one of the smallest and it is at high demand.So means if you want it you have to pay for it and they know that

Supply and demand, there is limited supply in the sold out resorts, but lots of people looking to buy there. You will see the same thing happen at SSR and AKV when they sell out, right now it is cheaper because there is a large supply and they are trying to encourage demand. SSR and AKV will probably be priced similar to OKW after sell out, mainly due to size of the resort, so there will always be more points available. (Incidently this could be a reason they did the extension at OKW, to keep demand up on this larger resort)

Older? Yes. Less 'hot'? I wouldn't say so. As others have said supply and demand play a big role as well as location, location, location.

Not quite true. Anyone who does an add-on at SSR or AKV, and are buying less then 110 points, are paying $104 per point.

This may be true if you buy a loaded contract with banked points. Depending on the time you are buying and UY, with a contract with only current points, it will depend. With a stripped contract, it is very likely a direct purchase will be about the same or less.

We bought BWV directly from DVC in 2005 and would only have saved money going resale on a contract with only current points if we were able to negotiate as significant discount off the asking price.

Of course, we realized we could have saved more if we had purchased at SSR but we expected to use the 11 month window to book our stays at BWV and so far, that is what has happened.

Not quite true. Anyone who does an add-on at SSR or AKV, and are buying less then 110 points, are paying $104 per point.

Actually, you need to buy 100 to get the $96 (AKV) or $94 (SSR) price. You need to buy 110 to get any developer points.

Also, the difference in price for the new resorts and BCV is realistically a lot more than just the difference between $96/$94 and $101. You are getting 12 (SSR) and 15 (AKV) additonal years for the price at the new resorts over BCV which expires 2042.
