I missed it?? does it not show up if I am not on the computer before it ends??? I am so confused as I am ready to book for Oct and just saw this. Should I book online and wait for a ding to come and then make the change? can I even do that? HELP please!

If you're traveling during the Ding period, you should be able to get that fare. I haven't been able to get the Ding to show up on SWA's website after the Ding expires. I would try calling SWA and asking. It can't hurt. Even if you book online, you can still go back and get a Ding, but your credit may come back for funds for another SWA trip. I was able to get a credit to my credit card as the Ding was the same flight and time. Hope this helps. I am sure there are many others out there who are more sophisticated than me when it comes to SWA fares.

Dings are available to purchase for a very limited time. Once they expire, you cannot book them unless they rerelease it again. Lately, it seems there is one shot to get the good Ding. They may release additional Dings for the same city pair, but they haven't been as good as the first. That may change as we move into the Fall when summer travel demands ease.

To get the Ding, you have to log into the Ding and purchase the Ding during the alloted time. If you have an exisiting Southwest flight, you may be albe to cancel it and apply those funds to the new lower Ding rate leaving you a credit for a future flight.

I really did not want to read 122 pages to find the answer.

OK, those of you who know about dings. I am new to this so be patient. I just downloaded the ding and have gotten a few.

Now my first question, Do you book your WDW vacation and wait on the ding or do you wait for ding then book WDW? I would love to book for Sept 2008 as soon as i can but how do you know what day to start your vacation on.

Some of the dings say Mon-Wed. Some say Thur-Sat. I'm not sure how to handle all this. If I book WDW for 7 nights starting on Monday do I just sit back and wait to see if a ding comes out.

I just told my DH today I would be willing to drop to value resort to pay for air fair. Our kids have never flown and its a 20 hr drive for us. I just don't want to do that. But if we could get a great air fair we could stay Mod.

Any info or help to make me understand this ding thing would be great.

I saw on Southwest Special Offers today Islip to orlando $69, but all Florida destinations were until Oct. 3rd, everywhere else was Jan. (We need the first week of Nov.) Does anyone know if we have a chance at a ding? I hope some Disers get that $69 from Islip

I just did some research on my own (duh, thats what this thread is for!) Sorry...I'm tired, up all night w/ a teething baby! I saw Dings last Sept. for Nov. from Islip to MCO, so I will be crossing my fingers, hopefully won't have to drive w/ a 14 month old!

I messed up big time on a ding. Instead of booking FROM Stl to MCO I booked from MCO to STL. I can't believe I did that. A ding from Stl to MCO comes a dime a dozens. I don't know what I'm going to do. This was not for me either. These tickets were for friends traveling with me. They are being nice about it, but I know they are ticked. My fingers, toes, legs, arms, and eyes are crossed praying for some kind of miracle and another ding from STL to MCO this time.

UPDATE: Keeping things crossed must have worked, I got a ding today for STL to Tampa. That is the city they originally wanted to come into anyway. I 'convinced' them to come into Orlando.

Just don't give up hope.
My sister and I each booked a flight out of Midway to MCO for August and got tired of waiting for a Ding and had to pay $278.80 for our flights. Way too much money but I really wanted to go during that time. So I just got a call from pamjb who was nice enough to call me from PA to let me know the Ding was up and I cancelled the 1st flight and applied the money to the Ding flight and still have a $110.00 credit towards my next flight!!!
Gotta love those Dings and SW for being so flexible with their restrictions!!!
