History of DINGS Fares for Orlando

So what are the chances that a missed city specific Ding will come back at some point? (Like the one I missed yesterday - still kicking myself!!!) I swear I have never even seen Hartford/Orlando on there, so I am especially aggrivated about missing it. You know it is bad when airfare makes its way into your DREAMS at night, btw. LOL!

:rotfl2: Me too! I even woke up and had to ask DH if we booked. I found the Cleveland Ding with 2 minutes to go. Since we had no trip "planned" I didn't do it. Now we are both bummed about it.

Quick ding question. If you don't get the DING can and see it posted here can you still get it? Or do you need to link through the DING? I am at work and can't get DINGS!

New ding...
Baltimore to Orlando $34-$39 one way March 1 thru June 9
Philadelphia to Orlando $34-$39 one way March 1 thur June 9

Good until 1:30pm

Hope this helps

Thanks to all on this site. With the new Ding for BWI to Orlando, I was just able to cancel my fare of $69 (total for 3 people at $237.90), which was good to $39 ($147.90 with a $90 credit) which I will save for return flight when the open. I need June 15th. Thanks!!

You must go through the DING link. Set up a backdoor route for use at work. That's how I handle it since I work on a linux network and can't download DING to my machine. Here's the link again with the explanation. It is also useful for those with MACs.

Carolyn, this Ding came from the backdoor set for MCO.

Thanks. I thought I might be losing it. I need to get another backdoor set up for MCO. :) Of course I only fly out of one airport so I guess it isn't as critical for me but I like to see what else is appearing out there so I know how alert I should be. I try to rely on the posts here but sometimes I get so busy at work and by the time I get the email alert to remind me to check it's too late.

Thanks...I tried to do the backdoor way but when I enter the address it gives me strange characters on the screen. I think it may be b/c I am not using windows xp and that seems to be whats in the address. FRUSTRATING. I have missed at least one!

Another question...I did not know to book two seperate "trips". I did round trip. What is the advantage of that? And what kind of problem did I cause myself??

See what happens when JetBlue is too $$$$$$!!!

I use XP at home so I can't fiddle around to see if it would work if you substituted your system where it says winxp. You might try it. Anybody else use something other than winxp? What does your link look like? Does the backdoor link work for you?

I know it sometimes looks like it isn't working if there is no current ding. Maybe there's something else wrong. If all else fails you could pm me your numbers and I could try to set up the link. If I can get it to work then I can send you back the url to use in your browser. I'm mildly computer literate but feel the best thing is to keep tinkering until things work.

As to the booking flights separately... The advantage would be if a ding appeared for a time period which included your outgoing flight but not your return flight. You could purchase the ding fare for part of your journey and cancel your other ticket. You wouldn't need to cancel and rebook your return. If a ding came up later for the return portion then you could take advantage of it at that time.

there was another targeted Ding! offer this morning--Baltimore and Philadelphia, for the same $$ as the other night. it's on the other computer, so I don't have the exact ending time.

It ends 1:30 pm CST, 2:30 pm EST. :thumbsup2

Thank you thank you thank you! I'm doing the happy dance! :cool1: I was able to change my airfare and we are now flying out at 7:00 am and arrive at 9:10am. And we got the $34 rate. I missed it the other night and it was eating me up, so now I can relax. I have a $450 credit that we'll use for our November Trip!

When I was playing with four different cities ealier this week, I noticed that I got something like a code "0" when there wasn't a ding available. There was one that I had done the link wrong; it gave me a code of "2". This one never would get a Ding when I knew there was one. So I had to refixe the backdoor link.
The code would be where the number is below.

I think the problem related to me uninstalling the DING software while I was still online. Once I followed flyertalk's suggestions exactly, it has worked better.

She's getting the '2' in her link and I remember seeing another post earlier this week that had the '2' in there. I bet it's an install problem. I'm going to get my second backdoor (MCO) set up at home tonight so I can help watch out for DINGs that don't originate from my home airport. I remember reading the part about disconnecting the internet to uninstall. I know what I'll be doing tonight! :surfweb:
