History of DINGS Fares for Orlando

I just downloaded ding, but have a question.

When a ding fare comes up for your city do you end up getting flights available that were showing up unavailable on SW site?

I don't keep statistics to see if this happens and I suspect someone who works at SW would be the only source for a correct answer. I would think if there was no availability at any fare rate on their website you would be highly unlikely to get a ding fare. In my opinion, it's possible but not probable.

Ok...I'm boo hooing! I was even on my computer last night in time to look at that and could have gotten that great fare for Baltimore to Orlando, as we have a fare booked right now for April 29th-May9th. That would have been great. I doubt we'll see that again. Oh well. I stopped getting my email notifications when it is posted on the Dis...so I guess I'll have to subscribe again.

Darn..I missed the $34 - $39 one way from BWI to Orlando..I could have so used that for our trip to Florida in March, although I'm pretty happy with the $69 one way I got, but still..that hurts that I missed out on that, as a single Mommy of 2, I'm always doing my best to save money when I can..

I can access *Ding* here at work, but I'm going to be keeping an eye on this board for any updates on such deals from BWI or Philly to Orlando..

Sorry, I meant to post the BWI ding for everyone, I don't think it ended up getting posted. But then I had my own nightmare to deal with, check out my thread, "the wrong way to get a sw credit" to find out how I spent my evening last night. Sorry you missed it, I'll keep my fingers crossed that it pops up again for you.

I've got to thank everyone here. I was convinced that Ding wasn't working on my PC because everytime I checked it said no new messages. It wasn't until I read this thread that I saw I was just missing the dings and noticed that the icon changes when a ding is there.

I just rebooked my May 1 to 4 trip with a ding fare of $49 each way. Total of $115.60 RT . Now I've got a $60 credit (I had 3 tickets) to use for another trip.

I just saw this (too late!) for my home city to Orlando! I have spent all day trying to figure out airfare and here there was a Ding! this morning I missed from Hartford to Orlando. *Sniff*

EDIT: Is anyone else getting a real long lag time receiving notification of new posts? I just received notification of lovesdumbo's morning post. The email is stamped with 10:39 as the time but it just arrived (4:20). I'm not sure if anyone will be able to catch the dings if they're not getting notified. Good thing I just leave my window open all day so I can check often. I'm only compulsive when I'm ready to book a trip and I'm watching for the sale.

I finally got my ding to work on my computer at home, and just now found the info someone posted about the backdoor access....cannot wait to try it at work tomorrow.....now all i need is for southwest to open up the july schedule and DING Raleigh-Durham!!!

Is it possible that the Southwest Ding will have this sale again?? I can't believe I uninstalled my Ding the same day these air sales came out...
I was having technical difficulties with the download but now I re-installed it and it's working fine.
Oh how I hope these sales come up again!!

An important detail that I learned about Dings this week is that not every city gets the same Dings. Sometimes they do, but sometime SWA targets specific cities with extra Dings that no one else sees unless they have that targeted "city" as their "home" airport.

If someone post a Ding that you don't see, temporarily change your home city in your Ding application to the Orlando or the home city that you are seeing the Ding Fare from and see if it shows up.

Directions for changing your Home Airport for Ding....
You can change your "home" city for Ding by double clicking the Ding icon in your taskbar. Then click on the link at the top right that says "Update Registration". This will open another browser window where you can select a new Home Airport. After doing this, remember to change it back to what ever city you track the most.

Please remember to help everyone else by contributing....
If anyone sees a Ding that is not listed for Orlando, please share it with this board. You may have been the only one that got the ding because of your unique airport selection. But I am often willing to travel to three different departing airports and am willing to arrive at three or more different airports in Florida.
