I am looking at airfare on Jetblue for Aug 2011, when is it best to book?

I normally don't book until I like the fare. Right now the August fares out of Wash. DC/Dulles are pretty high, so I'm waiting. Our normal fares tend to run around 79 each way, so I try to keep an eye on the rates and for sales. The prices tend to drop during the week days. I'm presently watching fares for January, May, and August, but haven't bought yet. We are pretty flexible too. Also, the size of your party is something you have to consider too. If you need many seats, sometimes you can't hang back and watch too long.

I am also planning an August trip and waiting on better prices from JetBlue. I live less than 30 minutes away from one airport that is known as one of the "expensive" ones and 1 1/2 hours away from an airport that is "cheaper". So I am playing the waiting game for 2 airports. Of course the airport farther away has better prices and more flights right now. :headache:

n2mm i am also waiting to buy out of Dulles for May 2011, i havent bought yet. Ive been watching everyday several times a day to see what prices if they go up or drop. Im holding out for cheaper flights.

Yep, me too. I'm watching May 2 down for us, May 7 down for my DD and family and May 14th for all of us home. I have all of my watching flights and purchased flights on my Yapta account. We'll be flying out of Dulles this Sunday for our upcoming trip. We love Jetblue!

My answer may not be direct, but I can tell you what I do and have been doing for our planned Jan 2011 trip. I go online to a travel search engine and get the price for all flights out of my local airport. I then plot the cost on a spreadsheet (and even created a graph). For the past three weeks, the price has dropped either Monday or Tuesday and then gone back up on Thursday. So, while I can't say which month to book, like someone else said, it appears that early in the week is the better. Since you have until August, I say watch the rates for a little bit.

Yeah were going down May 15th and coming back the 24th. There are some good prices for the way back but nothing going yet. Ive never flown jetblue. Ive always flown SW but will look at both as they have the no baggage fees. Im hoping for no more than 79 each way, ive gotten twice 59 each way and right now SW has 60 each way just not in may yet so im holding hope.

We flew SW a few times earlier this year, but when they stopped flying non-stop out of Dulles we stopped flying them. Not worth it for a 2 hour flight. I often check to see if the non-stops come back.

Our family is a party of 5, and have flown a few options from Boston to MCO. We really like Jetblue for afew reasons, direct flights being one of them:)

I have paid between $400 to $188 each for the fare in the past. Being a family of 5 you can imagine how that can really add up when its on the higher side. Right now I am looking at $1,700 which isn't great.

I'm also waiting on Aug flights. Right now they are way too high- $440 per person!!:headache: I'm hoping they'll come down. This is the highest they have ever been.

The best time to book is when the price is right! I usually fly SWA and purchase when fares comes out. I keep an eye on airfares and if they go down, I take the credit.
