I'm trying to add some historical numbers to my DVC purchase analyses and one of the things I'm missing is historical point rental prices. If anyone who has information on this can post it here, it would be helpful and appreciated. Specifically I'm looking for a history of prices charged by brokers as well as the "consensus" price per point over the past 10 years. Thanks! :)

Its been mostly stuck at $10-$12 pp since I have been an owner.......so that is 8 years of ownership.

FYI : $10-$12 being the average rental price range. I know distressed renters sell for less and long range renters sell for more.

This would be interesting info to have. It would also be interesting to see if owners of theme park resorts like BC, BWV and BLT can command higher prices due to their proximity to the park and events like F&W, MNSSHP, etc...

The earliest Rent/Trade posts I can find are from July, 2002 and it looks like the predominant asking price was in the $9-10 range at that time.

We do have earlier posts on that board, but they have been archived.

Here is a look back in time - Rent/Trade Board - July 28, 2002 (and forward)

At that time, there was no restriction regarding existing reservations and rental request threads were also allowed so you will find those threads among the actual offers to rent.

This link offers a look at rental threads from that date forward.

I've rented twice 2006 & 2008 and both were at $10 a point.

Maybe during those busiest times. I've rented my SSR points to people who used them at those resorts, and of course I didn't get any extra for that. Since those resorts you mentioned sell for higher resale prices, I suspect they are more valuable for 11-month booking resale as well, but only at times when that is required.

I think the rental prices started to go up with the rise in brokering points.

I don't remember ever hearing about brokers until a year or so ago.

Thanks, Doc, this is very helpful.

I rented in 1995 or 1996 for $10.50 and have never rented for less than $10 a point (early rentals had tickets with them for OKW). Even when the prices dipped way down following 9/11, I did not reduce my prices and never had an issue of around 3 rentals every 2 years to maybe 2 a year on average. Dues have certainly gone up more than 30% over that period of time
