We have the WC booked on the Magic for Oct. 9th. I was just wondering if in the past in October if anyone has experienced any unplanned changes in their Itineraries due to the unpredictable weather. I know Oct is the end of Hurricane season but I just thought I would ask? I have heard of bypassing Castaway Cay but no where else? Just trying to see what has happened in the past?
Thanks,
Mark

we love cruising in October....DWs bday and our anniv....missed Grand Cayman on one of our cruises....other than that, consistently smooth sailing....we never once missed CC though

Hey Mark ( MR DIS ) we'll be sailing with you on WC oct 9th , they're better not be any changes have been planning my shore excursions for months and changes would throw me into dissaray LOL i don't think my DH would cope if i had to start planning over !

Are you as excited as me , less than 5 months to go YIPEE

Cruised on the Magic in October time, no problems at all, we had sunny days everywhere, no rain or wind at all. But not that humid heat.

The closest it ever got was a Storm at sea on our Casterway cay day, and we could see it from the beach, but it just stayed there all day and didnt move.

I am gald to hear that it sounds like we will just have a great Cruise. I would hate to miss any of the ports but sounds like chances are slim.

traycie2201: we are in the excusion planning mode right now. Can't make up our minds on Cozumel on the jeep tours. Every day is one day closer! Just can't wait!

Thanks for all the responses!

We missed St. Maarten in October 2000. There was a storm in the eastern Atlantic, so we called at Key West on the first day. By the end of the day, the storm had downgraded and turned south, so we spent the next two days at sea and called at St. Thomas on Wednesday as scheduled. Except for a bit of rain on Sunday morning in Key West, the weather was perfect for the entire trip, including Castaway Cay.

Bear in mind, that you could still get diverted, it's more likely to happen at this time of year, but it is still unlikely. We sail in the fall every year, since the prices are so much lower than during the peak times, and have only been diverted the one time.

Based on the trip reports on this site, the Magic is 11-12 in October calling at Castaway Cay, that is, of the trips I can account for, it's only missed once, in Oct. 2001. The Wonder missed in October last year, but is 20-21 in October. The odds are overwhelmingly in your favor to make it to Castaway Cay.

Our 9/28 cruise in 2002 Western took a diversion due to Hurricane Lili - we went Sunday to CC, then to San Juan, St. Thomas and back to CC on Friday. Two CC's in one cruise was pretty darn nice, as was San Juan and as always, St. Thomas!!!
