After searching through loads of hotels I think I may have narrowed it down to The Hilton in DTD and The Royal Plaza in DTD, I am leaning towards The Royal Plaza, mainly because I understand that they have totally refurbished there rooms. I heard on the grapevine though that this is also true of The Hilton, if this is so are the pics of the rooms in tripadvisor, Expedia etc the newly renovated ones or not?

Ideally I would like to stay at a Disney Resort but the price doesn't seem to compare. My 3 favs are AKL, Poly and CR and the prices are through the roof, although maybe I'm not looking at the right site?????

However your buck seems to go alot further in the DTD resorts and they are all still close to the action.

I've never been to WDW before and my fiance and I are getting married here in Sep 07, do you think DTD would be a good destination?

Thanks for any responses

i stayed at the hilton last year and enjoyed it. cheaper than a disney resort and still got to do the extra-magic hours deal in a very nice hotel.

i couldn't tell you anything about the plaza, though...

We've stayed at the Hilton DTD several times. It's a very nice Hilton and really close to Downtown Disney. You can also use the EMH perk which is nice. The pool is okay. We didn't use the bus service so I can't help you there.

We stayed at the Royal Plaza a couple of years ago and it was fine. Our room at the RP had a balcony and a small sitting area which was nice. I haven't seen it since the renovation but given a choice of the two I'd pick the Hilton.

Hope this helps!

I have stayed at both. My Royal Plaza visit was very recently and my room looked JUST like the photos on the website (which really surprised me as that's not normally true LOL!)

I think the Hilton is a nicer hotel overall in terms of amenities and the overall property, and it offers the Extra Magic Hours which the Hotel Royal Plaza does not.

The Hilton was redone several years ago. Kind of an "Art Deco" motif. My rooms there have always been in good shape. My room at the Royal Plaza was very nice and had one of the nicest hotel bathrooms I have ever seen. (NOTE: I stayed in a Tower Room which before the remodel were the nicest rooms so that may still be true)
