Hilton or Hotel Royal Plaza at DTD

I am staying at the Hotel Royal Plaza, Premier Tower Room with free breakfast for two on December 15 for 1 night at a rate of $119 plus taxes. I got this rate through the Mouseplanet Website. I can get a standard prepaid room at the Hilton for $89.40 plus taxes. I am thinking it would be closer to walk to DTD. Has anyone stayed at either or both hotels and which one would you reccomend?

I've only stayed at the Royal Plaza and it's nice enough but nothing special. The Hilton is closer to DTD (although the walk from the Royal isn't far at all), the Hilton offers EMH, the only hotel in DTD to do so and lastly. The food at the Royal was sadly lacking. The Hilton has more choices.

I agree with Rosiep. I've also stayed at the Royal Plaza, and I thought it was nice, but nothing extraordinary. We didn't eat there, so I can't comment on the food. The rooms were nice, especially the bathrooms. And although, I haven't stayed at the Hilton, I'm sure that the Hilton rooms are nice there, as well. With the price difference, it's like your paying for those breakfasts anyways. If you care about EMH, like my faimly does then that is a huge plus. I'm guessing that the prepaid rate in non-refundable, so if that's not a problem with ya, I would go with the Hilton.

We stayed at the DTD Hilton for 1 night this summer before checking in to our timeshare. It was wonderful and I wished we had been able to spend more nights there! The rooms are not big by any sense of the word, but they have two sinks (one in with the tub and toilet, and anther sink area right outside the bathroom). That was wonderful with 4 of us (2 teens). The beds and bedding were super comfy. We took advantage of the EMH while we were there. We went to the MK at 4:00 PM and stayed until 3 AM. Pool area looked o.k., nice Disney shop in the lobby, very helpful people throughout the place. We are Hilton Honors members and were using points. We were upgraded to a concierge room - enjoyed the afternoon snacks and the free breakfast. Can't speak for any other DTD hotel but I wouldn't hesitate staying at the Hilton, especially for the rate you mentioned.

Wow, those are great prices! I'm looking for just the night of Jan. 1 before we check in at YC and so far I found $127 for a traditional room at HRP and $139 for room determined at check in at Hilton, both with the AAA discount applied.
