Have you stayed at this hotel and if so what did you like or dislike?

Planning to stay near US one night prior to our visit, interested in feedback for this hotel.

We stayed one night in oct 2010. We wanted to visit universal before flying out late the next day for Orlando.

A very good hotel right over the road from Universal so we loved it. they stored our luggage after check out so we enjoyed a full day at Universal before being picked up for our flight. About $230 for the night with breakfast.:goodvibes

I would also love to hear from Dis'ers who have stayed here. We are planning a 3 night stay in July. I have read trip advisor reviews and they are mostly very positive. Thanks for info gregpso!

We stayed here a few years ago. The price was reasonable and the hotel was typical for a Hilton (meaning nice). You have to walk 5-10 minutes to get to the front gate of Universal Studios (about as far as from PPH to the DL gates).

THanks Helenb!

Wondering if $225/night is standard for hilton and if yes, are there other more reasonably priced hotels nearby that you'd recommend?

Yeah, that price sounds about right for a Hilton in summer. You may be able to get a AAA discount or a hotels.com/expedia/travelocity discount. If you know you want THAT hotel, look it up on a few sites, including booking directly. Sometimes you can save a lot of money, particularly at the nicer hotels.

There is a Sheraton next door to the Hilton, but IIRC, it's more expensive.

Universal Studios is in a bit of an 'isolated' area. I don't think there are any other hotels in walking distance, but you could consider staying elsewhere and driving in and paying for parking.

You really only need one night at the hotel (you can go to the park the day you arrive and the day you depart) so maybe it's worth a splurge?

ETA When I said the price was reasonable, I meant in comparison to the $300+ per night that Disney charges for its onsite hotels! ;)
