From what I understand, some people who stay at the Hilton Head resort elect to drive over to the beach. Can anyone tell me what the parking situation is like at the beach? Thanks, all!
There's lots of parking space over there. Some is outside, but most is 'inside', beneath the beach house facility in a parking garage area. Keeps the car out of the sun. (It's similar to the garage type parking which is underneath the lodge at the HH resort itself.)
I drive to the beach because I don't want to wait when I am ready to leave for the shuttle to pick me up. Plus I can take a whole lot of stuff. I have never had a problem finding a space, even in the summer. Though alot more non-dvc guest are parking under our building. It is hard to find a space under there. I wish they would put up a gate. I know we took Palemetto dunes parking, but they are not allowed in the building, and the underground parking should be considered in the building.
During very busy times in the summer, plan on getting to the beach house early -- like by 10 am -- to get a parking space. Otherwise, you may be out of luck, unless you go later in the day and are able to catch someone who is leaving.
Another option is to rent bicycles and ride over to the beach. My husband did that with the kids and they had a great time riding over every day. They got lots of exercise as well. I drove over to the beach house (with our six week old baby) and never had a problem getting a spot at any time of the day.
