I have read that there are 21 studios at Hilton Head. But I can only find the room numbers of 11 of them on DVC News. What gives? Anyone have a clue?

They list five room numbers in building 11, two in building 12 and one each in buildings 16, 18, 28 and 30. Where's the rest?

Actually, there are 10 in building 11 (2 on 1st floor, 4 on 2nd floor, 4 on 3rd floor), 6 in building 12 (3 on first floor, 3 on 2nd floor), and 1 more scattered thru the resort (like 16, 18, 28, and 30), but I can't recall offhand the building number. The ones NOT in building 11 and 12 are all beneath a grand villa. Buildings 11 and 12 have parking underneath. All the other buildings are raised, but do not have parking underneath.

Oh, ok. Thanks. I am assuming those studios not in building 11 and 12 make up part of the grand villas?

No, they are part of a 2 bedroom lock-off, on the first floor, underneath a grand villa that's on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

So though not likely, it would be possible to get a studio in a building other than 11 or 12 if it were open?

Sure. I think they tend to put studio and 1-bedroom reservations in buildings 11 and 12. But you could always request one of the other 5 studios. Certainly if they had more than 16 reservations for studios or 1 bedrooms they would have to use the lock-offs in the other buildings.

Possibly going back in March. Got a one bedroom this time. So, the chances are high I will be in building 11 or 12 again?

If I remember right, the fifth building for studios and one bedrooms is building 19. We stayed just one night in a studio there, but can't really comment-got in after midnight, transferred to our 1 BR the next day. In the about 10-12 times we've been in a 1 BR, we've only NOT been in the main lodge (buildings 11/12) once. We love the top floor in the main lodge.
