Hi everyone. I'm going to call MS tomorrow to book my first ever HH vacation :teeth: . It's our home resort but we have never been there. Any suggestions? We will be booking a studio for 5 nights. Which view/rooms should I request? Any info will be helpful. Thanks.

We did our first ever trip to Disney's Hilton Head Island resort in May. We really loved it.

If you're going to be there during warmer weather, request a location by the pool. Also, be sure to request a view of the marsh. There is a lot of wild life to view and it is really pretty. And, it sure beats a view of the parking lot.

This is a great resort. Be sure to check out a lot of the good local restaurants.

What time of year, unit size and length of stay are you hoping for?

Call day to day...I believe that there are less than 25 studios. We do our final call tomorrow for next july!!! Anyway, upon talking to MS, they said the demand is very high for the studios.

We have friends staying in the studio and us in a 2 BR.

HH only has 21 Studios and most (16) are located in the Live Oak Lodge (main building- #11,12). These will have either marsh view or island view rooms. The remaining 5 studios are found under the GV's at the resort and will have either marsh or island views.

Here is a description of the HH resort.

I don't think ANY villa at DHHIR has a view of the parking lot, do they? None that i can remember, anyways. :scratchin

No- none of the villas looks out at a parking lot. A few may have a glimpse of a parked car, but the views are basically Marsh View (with a view of Broad Creek Marsh and the wildlife that habitat that area- Dolphin, otter, manatee and assorted birds), Pool View ( these look out directky over the main pool at the reosrt) or Island View (these look out on interior glimpses of the wooded areas of the island).

The marina may be seen from the entryway of several buildings, but no balconies face the marina.

The one request I noticed helped was getting a top floor room, at least not first floor. We had a studio once that was kind of noisy from the footsteps of people walking around above us. The people weren't being noisy, just the nature of the floors.

Maybe it is because my children are older but I personally prefer NOT to have a pool view from my room(either at HH or at WDW resorts). At HH some of the pool view rooms are far enough away from the pool that they are pretty quiet...others feel too close to the action to suit me...potentially noisy especially if you are there in the summer when the pool might be busy all day and into the night. The waterway/marsh view is fabulous...we had at least a peek at it from our balcony the last time we were there. Enjoyed hanging out on the pier to really savor the view, watch the wildlife, and take some awesome pictures! Eat at Marley's...cool place. great food!

I agree with Simba's Mom that the most important aspect is a top floor room. If you have a marsh view, you really don't see all that much since there are lots of trees affecting the view from most areas. However, attempting to get a top floor room may save you a few hours of sleep. The floors and walls don't appear to have been made with quiet in mind, and even if the family above you tries their hardest to be quiet, it's nigh unto impossible just in the natural order of things. Good luck and have fun! It's a very fine resort. :paw:

We just visited HH for the first time in August and had a wonderful visit! We had a 2 bdrm and a studio in building 30 (at the end of the resort). I can't remember which was the studio, 3013 or 3014, but it was great. It's first floor but an island view. It was close to the pool and resort store, but far enough away that you didn't get noise. There was also very little noise from overhead. Fortunately, the balconies in the 2 bdrm and studio were side by side. We enjoyed talking over the railing each morning to our family. From building 30 it's a bit of a walk to the bus stop, but the walks were always enjoyable. The marsh views would be great, especially if fireworks are still taking place in the harbor. After visiting, I really don't think you can go wrong with any view!

We loved having the pool view. Our room was located just to the left of the slide, so we could watch everyone splashing down.

Unbelievably, we could NOT hear any noise from the pool from in our unit!

Maybe we're just louder than the pool people!! :teeth:

We requested a Marsh View and it was wonderful. We were in building 15 and the view of the fireworks on Tuesday evening was the best. I don't think we could have gotten a better spot. We had a beautiful view of the marsh and a quick walk to the mercantile and the pool. I'm not sure if there are any studios in building 15.
