Considering staying here for a couple of nights......

Wondered what recs you could give as far as room location, etc.

Also dining nearby...

Will travel in October with our two girls, ages 7 + 10.

Hilton Head is great and October will be very quiet. If you are lucky you will catch a week of indian summer. If not the pool is heated to 82 degrees and the spa is 105 degrees.

I am not sure what size unit you have reserved. If you chose anything other than a 2 bedroom unit your choices will be somewhat limited. The studios are located in the lodge and the 1 bedrooms are scattered throughout. If you have a 2 bedroom reserved I would recommend buildings 27-30 with a Marsh view. I would request a 2nd floor bedroom. That way you have a unobscured view of the marsh. These buildings are fairly close to the action of the pool and such.

In regards to the restaurants.....we enjoyed Old Oyster Factory across the marsh from the resort. I was very disappointed in Salty Dog Cafe. Not worth the effort to me. There is a Brusters Ice Cream in the Shopping Center where Fuddruckers is located. The ice cream is great if the girls enjoy such desserts.

Have fun.

Can you tell me anything about the studios vs the 2 bedrooms.

2 adults & 2 girls, ages 6 + 9.

I wonder if it's worth getting a 2 bdrm ---- or we CAN squish into a studio.
Just wondering what they are both like?

We've done studio with similar ages. Have yet to splurge for anything bigger. Works for us. I'd do a search on this forum for restaurant suggestions. This thread should offer lots of hits. Otherwise, the ones I've come across include: Stripes - and American Grill; Sea Shack and Aunt Chilada's/Easy Street Cafe; Salty Dog at South Beach.

If your stay is just for a couple of nights, the studio may be fine ( why not try a 1BR?).

Studios will have a queen bed and sleep sofa, a small table, microwave and smal fridge.

1BR villas will have a King bed, sleep sofa, jacuzzi tub, washer/dryer, full kitchen, large balcony with picnic table and rocking chairs.

The 2BR villas are dedicated and will have all of the amenities listed for the 1BR and the second BR will have 2 Queen beds and no fridge or microwave, but more storage space. There will be 2 bathrooms.

There are a total of 21 Studios and the same number os 1BR villas. All are lock-offs and will have an adjoining door. 16 of these are located in buildings 11 and 12. These have elevator access. The other 5 (of each) are found beneath one of the resort's five GV's. All are located on the first floor (there are no ground floor rooms at the resort- all 1st floor rooms are accessed by stairs. No elevators in any buildings besides 11/12.

There are lots of great dining options. Several within 200 yards of the resort (Scott's, Harbourmaster, a Deli, Kingfisher) and many more a short drive away (Alexander's, Giuseppi's, Fudruckers). Hudson's and the Old Oyster Factory are good for local seafood.

Here is some more <a href="http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=226883">information about the HH Resort.</a>

Enjoy!

IMO - after just having stayed in a 2BR for the first time, for us it's not just having the extra sleeping space; it's mainly about having the kitchen and laundry. From now on, it's going to be very hard going back to a studio (even though that is what I have booked for our March WDW trip). Especially at HH, we will be getting a 1BR if just DW and myself and 2BR if we take DD and/or DS along with us.
